Hi. Overactive for a few years then radioactive treatment causes me to go under active for the last 18 years.
Menopause meant I was fitted with a more a coil 8 months ago to help symptoms and now trying HRT estradiol gel for three months so far. Huge weight gain but could also be because of poor diet during lockdown 3 in the uk!
Moderna covid jab last week and I have been so poorly since . My temp for the last week has dropped to 35 rising most to 36.2. Sunday I reached 38 degrees for an hour. My body is full of pins and needles from top to toe and I am at a loss now what could be wrong.
Doctor is to take full blood screen tomorrow as mentioned immune system. My mother died from lupus many years ago so I always test for this at the same time as a thyroid check.
Currently on 75mg accord daily.
Could the estrogel cause the Levo to not function? could the moderna vaccine have caused a reaction with Levo
I didn’t know if I could ask to withdraw from levo slowly to see if after all these years maybe it’s the tablets making me poorly. Actavis was great, now accord. Can’t tolerate teva or Mercury but the chemists think I am mad when I say this 😃
As soon as I get the blood report could I post for some advice please?

Yes of course, for considered opinion we do need to see TSH, T3, T4, antibodies, inflammation plus ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D :
Once with the results and ranges simply throw it all back up in a new post for forum members to read, explain and comment on.
I also had RAI treatment for Graves back in 2005 and became very unwell around 8 years later. I found little help in the medical mainstream and considered a conundrum.
Sofa bound, I thought, maybe " that Graves " had come back again, and purchased Elaine Moore's first book, read that Graves doesn't go away, as it's an auto immune disease, read of my symptoms and started my learning curve back to better health with the help of Thyrod uk and the charity who support this amazing.forum.
Thank you so much for that! I shall look into that further. The doctor was lovely yesterday and said he wondered if it was an auto immune system issue hence the full screening.
Yes, you can post your report. I am sorry you don't feel well at present. It is disappointing for us as we would hope to improve our symptoms.
Many on this forum can have 'symptoms' to other medications they are prescribed. I think if we're hypo that we should take them well apart from thyroid hormones - just 'in case' there is some reaction.
I'm sorry you have had a reaction to your Coronavirus jab. Members who have had the one you've had will respond when they read your post.
this link only covers feeling ill for a few days- I'm on week 8 now... doctors clueless. There are many on my Twitter timeline struggling after it , but hardly any news coverage! One lady has gone blind, & many like me still struggling with bad reactions. I was so happy to be offered the vaccine- but there's no way I can have my 2nd in May. My Mum (90) low thyroid - had the Pfizer & was fine. but then she does ok on levothyroxine & I don't - we are all so different...
Several members have found Accord tablets are different from Activis. They seem less easily absorbed and therefore are perhaps in effect a dose decrease in levothyroxine
Strongly recommend getting FULL thyroid and vitamins tested 6-8 weeks after any change in dose or brand of levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Thank you so much. I have hidden my tablets to ensure I do not take one as I wake tomorrow and I’ll go fasted. I’ll take it after I get back. This is how I have always done my tests.
I’ll check with the nurse the above are in the full
Screening.
I did suspect accord was not the same to me as activate but when you feel unwell address this with the chemist and doctors often meets with puzzlement. They assure me it’s the same.
I’ll get some private tests tests done too so thanks so much for the above links, really appreciate everyone’s help.
Majority of patients on Activis have not noticed any difference changing to Accord......but there’s a minority who have found it very different or intolerable
The ingredients listed are apparently identical, but the company has admitted that some of the fillers are from different suppliers
When hormones aren’t balanced, things can go awry. I found that with HRT I required more thyroid replacement. It takes trial and error to find the right amount of HRT as well as the right kind of HRT. You don’t mention if in addition to estrogen you are taking progesterone? Also note that sex hormones need time to build in the body to an amount that achieves balance. You know things are balanced when symptoms are alleviated (or at least managed).
I have had a bad reaction to the Astrazenaca vaccine -(7 weeks now ) hashimotos -& * Bio Identical hormones please see my post on it... Best w ishes...
I have to have repeat bloods taken this week. Inconclusive. Vit d and calcium a little low but everything else looked fine. They don’t do t3 or t4 readings of thyroid within acceptable marker?
Didn’t test for ferritin so added that onto Theo’s weeks list to check.
What is the relevance of ferritin please (in layman’s terms as 20 years on I still have no idea what the results mean and rely on guidance on what tablet to take and when!
