I have diagnosed hypothyroidism November 2019, with the help here I asked to do antibody test in October 2020 and it came high which shoes I am hashimoto.
2019 one doctor increased my tablet from 50 to 75 after three month, then without any blood test to 100 that I showed the symptoms of hyperthyroidism and another doctor took over and started to decrease the dose of levethyroxin. January 21 I was so slow in understanding, processing and I started to have night sweats. I sent a picture of my sweat after 2 month sweating. He started the investigation. All blood tests for cancers, and other organs like liver, kidney , all mineral. Everything was fine. Then ultrasound, normal. Then full body scan came normal. But meanwhile before all these investigation starts , I went privately to see consultant and he said my dose 50 is really low. He increased to 62.5 everyday which I am fine.
After all xray body , now I received a letter for X-Ray of my thyroid. I am not really sure about this as I studied x-Ray with radiation can trigger cancer or can itself cause problems.
My problem sweating solved with dose. I feel I go to see again consultant in Manchester. And I feel I should cancel this thyroid X-ray as I asked my friends who has been years on levethyroxin, they never had any X-Rays .
Could you please 🙏help me as I am not sure what to do. Thanks

We have to trust our medical professionals and I don't think they'd offer an X-ray unless they want to look at your thyroid gland. However, if your symptoms have resolved, then you have the option to cancel the x-ray.
I cannot do trust , a professional who checked my thyroid hormones every 3 month , then even without testing increased to 100 and when I got the symptoms of hyper active thyroid, he was forcing me to get depression tablets. My TSH was 0.02 and he was telling me tsh is not important.
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
Night sweats are frequently linked to low B12 ....very common with autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
i would contact the department that has sent the X-ray appointment and ask to speak to someone... let them know your symptoms have resolved on a slightly higher dose of Levo (ie. 62.5mcg ) and ask if they still want to do it . I'd also ask what they are looking for with X ray, because i think it is more usual to have other forms of scan for thyroid, like ultrasound . and many of us never even have that unless we have enlarged thyroids, nodules, or throat symptoms.
and i agree.... you don't want X ray's on thyroid unless necessary.
