Just diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation and prescribed Bisoprolol Fumarate. Does anyone know of any incompatibilities with Thyroxine. I take Thyroxine early am on waking. Thanks

I also take Bisoprolol - just before I go to bed (due to the awful palpitations I used to have when on levothyroxine only and cardiologist couldn't figure out why this was happening). I still take it even though on T3 only now because palps can disrupt my sleep.
I believe if you leave an appropriate space between taking Thyroxine and bisoprolol you'll be fine. You can adjust the space between them if necessary.
Thanks so much for this advice. I am suffering similarly and part of me feels that as Thyroxine is not a very effective drug re my hypothyroidism I just wanted to be extra vigilant as I believe I will be taking this beta blocker permanently.
Cardiologist was on the point of putting an 'implant' in my heart as he couldn't figure out what was happening at all. Thankfully I didn't need that.
Crickey! I’ve been having these symptoms for a couple of years but no-one has been interested as it was usually in the context of my thyroxine reviews - when only a TSH reading was thought sufficient to pronounce me well😡 They now know I get my own tests so I am less talked down to. I just hope the Afib diagnosis is correct though and the beta blocker treatment is relevant. I have next to zero confidence in the docs at my surgery which is echoed by the many adverse comments on their feedback page. Anyway, I am selling my house and moving so hopefully....
Ohhh Shaws I am so pleased with you comment. I also take bisoprolol for AFib along with anti coagulants. I have been on levo for over thirty years and experienced palpitations which were never investigated. Hence the untreated AFib caused my diagnosis of another heart condition severe, left atrial dilation, no treatment for this. Now I am on a combi -dose of levo and Efra and heart palpitations have improved during the day but I suspect they still occur at night and disturb my sleep no end. In all honesty, I took an extra small dose of efra last night and it made no difference.
After reading your comment I am going to take bisoprolol at night to see what happens.
Thank you
Loafinabout
I take Bisoprolol with no issues. I take my Levo/T3 in the early hours of the morning, about 4-5am, then the Bisoprolol around 9am.
Thank you so much for reassurance. I will give it a go and hope it doesn’t lower my BP too much, given it’s normally an even 60 resting. The head pharmacist spooked me as although the assistant was dealing with me he came out of his office and asked me to let him know how I got in with it!
Sincere thank you Loafinabout for this post! I have found some priceless info from it.
