Hi does anyone here have Addison’s disease? If so what are your symptoms? The endocrinologist is getting me bloodtests for this but i have looked up what the symptoms are and one of my main symptom is chest pain and it doesn’t say that is a symptom
Does anyone have Addison’s disease?: Hi does... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone have Addison’s disease?
Being anaemic with low iron or ferritin can cause breathlessness
You need FULL thyroid and vitamin testing
How low was iron .....and what supplements are you currently taking
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.
Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
If hypothyroid, we tend to get low stomach acid and poor nutrient absorption and low vitamin as direct result
Ask GP to test vitamin D and B12 levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

The main symptoms of Addison's/Adrenal insufficiency tend to be fatigue, weight loss, darkening of skin, especially in the folds, low BP, dizziness, nausea, maybe fainting & vomiting. Addison's tends to be an autoimmune condition, where the adrenal glands are being destroyed. Also issues with the pituitary gland can also cause adrenal insufficiency. Have a look at addisonsdisease.org.uk I have adrenal insufficiency so feel free to ask me questions.
Hi, do you have any other symptoms? I have a lot going on with me and the doctors aren’t quite sure what the cause is and thinks its anxiety but they talked to an endocrinologist and they messaged them back about Addison’s disease
It was slightly different for me as I had a benign tumour in my pituitary gland that caused Cushing's Disease, the opposite to Addison's, however after the tumour was removed I didn't make cortisol so had to have steroids, so I'm classed as having secondary adrenal insufficiency, but it's basically the same treatment as Addison's.
