High thyroid globulin with normal TSH

Hi guys,

I have had blood test recently, and my thyroid globulin is too high, 104KU/L while normal range is (0-20) with normal TSH. I kept asking the GP to test T3 & T4 as I am always tired, can’t focus well, and experiencing breathlessness, headache, pain in interior and posterior part of my neck, also feeling pain and burning in my shoulder and sternum! The quality of my life is zero! However, they refused to test T3,4 so I am going to do it privately. Does anyone else has similar experience ? And what did you do to improve your life? I have done US of my neck also and some nodules has been seen in my thyroid, I am 28 if it helps and have a very healthy lifestyle, eat healthy, don’t drink alcohol at all and do exercises 3 times a week!

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestion 😊

How “normal” is your TSH? Do you know the actual results? If you do, would you mind sharing it with us?

Yes it is completely in the normal range!

Yes, but what is it? :)

The reason I ask is that a normal TSH for someone without thyroid problems is 1.5 or so. Anything over 2.0–and definitely anything over 3.0–can mean a problem is developing. The “normal range” isn’t actually all that normal. People with healthy thyroids generally have a TSH under 2.0.

Ah, so it’s higher than you might normally expect. Probably well worth having additional checks done if you’re going to have FT3 and FT4 tested privately then.

Low Vitamin B12 and/or low folate can cause very similar symptoms to hypothyroidism, as can low vitamin D and low iron.

There are a number of private testing companies that will do all these checks from a sample of blood that you can take yourself simply by pricking your finger and filling a small vial. I can personally recommend Medichecks and Blue Horizon but there are several other private labs available which may provide the service more cheaply
