Hi guys,

Iv been on levo for 2yrs now. I have started feeling quite tired and struggling to sleep at night. I had a blood test the other day amd these are the results. My T3 has increased it was previously 1.46 and my T4 was 13.3 it’s now 8.9 I’m on 100mg of levo. Does this seem right or am I under medicated?

Your under medicated

On levothyroxine TSH should be under 2 and Ft4 near top of range

TSH should be under 2 as an absolute maximum when on levothyroxine

gponline.com/endocrinology-...

Replacement therapy with levothyroxine should be initiated in all patients to achieve a TSH level of 0.5-2.0pmol/L.

NHS England Liothyronine guidelines July 2019 clearly state on page 13 that TSH should be between 0.4-1.5 when OPTIMALLY treated with just Levothyroxine

Note that it says test should be in morning BEFORE taking levothyroxine

Also to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

sps.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploa...

Aim is to bring a TSH under 2.5

UK guidance suggests aiming for a TSH of 0.5–2.5

See GP and request 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

Which brand

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Vitamin D needs improving.

GP should prescribe 1600iu vitamin D every day for 6 months

Wow thank you for the in-depth reply it’s much appreciated! I will speak to my Dr in the morning and request an increase. They have already sent a prescription across for Vit D. The brand of Levo is Almus. Same brand everytime x

Almus is Accord brand boxed by Boots

Also available as Northstar at Lloyds

IMPORTANT

Accord don’t make 25mcg tablets

You want to stay on same brand if at all possible

So request prescription to be 50mcg levothyroxine and cut tablets in half to give 25mcg dose
