Tsh 2.8 t4 35.4, t3 6.6

Dr wants to increase levo to further suppress tsh and try and reduce symptoms but every increase comes with more weight gain and tiredness.

Hscott,

Do you have the ranges for T4 and T3 results (ranges are the figures in brackets after results)? T4 35.4 is usually considerably over range which would indicate you are already over medicated.

Hi

Ranges are tsh .27-4.2

T4 12-22

T3 3.9-6.7

Dr wants to ignore t4 as bound to proteins in the past giving what were considered inflated high readings.

My concern in trying another increased dose is that I could be raising reverse t3 which could be causing my issues as dose has increased. Definately no obvious hyper symptoms.

Hscott,

12-22 is the range for free T4 which is unbound to proteins. If FT4 is 35.4 that can make you feel very unwell and probably will raise rT3. I felt like hell with FT4 35. You could order Blue Horizon Thyroid Plus 12 which includes rT3 test but you will have to pay for phlebotomy too. thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

FT3 6.6 is top of range so if dose is increased FT3 will be over range which is not desirable. It's quite odd that your FT4 and FT3 are high but TSH is relatively high too.

I use medic hacks between Dr tests and will be ordering another full suite including t3 to check ratio but worry a ) treating wrong problem is other pituitary issue altogether or that problem is reverse t3 and test results if no use if can't get someone to change medication regime .

Hscott,

If rT3 is high you will need to reduce Levothyroxine dose or switch to T3 only.

It may be worth asking for referral to endocrinology to see why FT4 and FT3 are so high with high-ish TSH.

Thanks , have a vague promise of a referral but as Dr dies the think it necessary and therefore non urgent if may take a while. Thanks for the dialogue ))
