Help, dizzy hashimotos disease

Hi, don’t know if anyone can help me, I have Hashimotos disease for the last 5 years. I had covid in November. But since then I am having these episodes where I really so dizzy and faint, shaky, palpitations. My last TSH was low 1.2 , I just got another blood test today. My vitamin levels are fine. I normally some get dizziness with my thyroid if my bloods are off. I don’t know if this is all to do with my thyroid. My gp has done an ecg which she said doesn’t show anything. They aren’t being helpful and make me feel like I’m mad. Does anyone experience extreme dizziness with their thyroid?

Thanks

Marian

Hi

In the beginning before it was discovered I had a thyroid issue, I started going dizzy, it started when I was laying down doing Yoga and the room was spinning, or if I was just laying down ready for bed.

Since sorting out my thyroid issue this has never happened again.

I have Hashimotos and caught Covid in December, I’ve not had any of those side effects, apart from I still can’t smell or taste anything at all.

Just having your TSH level tested isn’t sufficient at all. Did your GP test your T4 & T3?

What dosage of thyroid medication are you on?, Covid has effected people in so many ways.

Best wishes

Thank you for your reply. I asked the gp to do my t3,t4 but they didn’t I am waiting for telephone consult today. I currently take 150mcg levothyroxine. Could this just be related to my thyroid levels?

Are you completely gluten free?

Thanks

Hi

It could be yes, can you afford to have a private blood test done for TSH, T3 & T4. It’s a finger prick test you can do yourself at home.

It’s easy to do, and often (including myself) we bypass the GP’s for blood tests, as you will have to put up a fight for T3 & T4 to be tested, they say it’s not important, well it is.

I am completely gluten free and been gluten free for years now. Once I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, I stopped eating gluten. It helped me no end.

I relied too much on the NHS to help me with my thyroid condition and wasted so much of my life with my thyroid symptoms, I even saw an endo, he was as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

It was this forum and another that helped me get back on track, and I am forever grateful for all those that helped.

Best wishes

Hi,Yes I will do a private test. It’s so frustrating the constant battle with GP’s. I am gluten free, but the odd time will eat some non gluten free noodles or pasta. I’m going to stop that.

Thank you so much for your help. I am grateful for the responses on this forum as you feel like your going mad.

Thanks

Hi, I too get the dizzy spells. Did you find anything that helped in the end?

I get the dizzy spells too, it’s hard to describe exactly. Sometimes it’s in relation to my blood sugar dipping but sometimes not. Laying down for a few minutes is the only thing I’ve found that helps me or ofcourse eating if my blood sugar is low…

I am exactly the same, I often find eating or electrolyte drink really helps but the dizziness is uncontrollable and never know when it will strike, must be thyroid.
