Always trust your gut feeling

Back in January my T4 was 23 (9-23) and T3 6.4 ( 3.5-6.5 ) so

100% & 96.67 % through the range TSH 0.05

As they were very high in the range on 100 thyroxine and only 06.25 of T3 he said let’s reduce your T4 to try to bring them down a bit and hopefully raise you TSH ( alarm bells rang a bit ) but thought maybe it would be better if my levels were slightly lower so reduced and just had my bloods done as per protocol fasting and early morning and meds taken as protocol and shocked at my results .

T4 is down to 17

T3 is down to 4.6 ( back to we’re I was before I started T3 )

And guess what my TSH HAS STAYED THE SAME 😡

T4 57.14 % and T3 36.67 % through the range .

So angry with myself for not trusting my Gut and saying NO

So back to trying to get my Levels back to where they were.

I feel so rubbish and now I know why and my blood pressure has gone very high ( never been high before ) and back to my GP for further tests . Just wanted to vent feel better already 😂

How much was Levo reduced by? I would have thought that small tweaks to fine tune is all that was needed, certainly no more than a reduction of 12.5mcg Levo at that stage.

It was reduced by 25mcg a day

24 hours thyroxine & 12 hours T3 same as last bloods in January.

TSH is very unlikely to move when taking T3 even if Ft4 drops below range

Suggest you increase levothyroxine back to 100mcg ....and perhaps 87.5mcg two days a week .....a reduction of 25mcg per week (rather than 25mcg per day)

Last summer I conducted similar, self reduction experiment in levothyroxine ....reduced from 125mcg to 100mcg....with very similar results. (Ft4 dropped from 21 to 14 and felt terrible. TSH went from 0.01 to 0.02)

Now back on 125mcg levothyroxine 5 days week and 112.5mcg 2 days a week

Thank you I’m going to go back up to 100mcg for now and when I start feeling well again will look to do what you suggest , just feel too awful at the moment and need to get these levels back up 🤞🏻

I had a GP try to do the same thing! Tried to argue with her but she prescribed me a lower dose. I decided not to go ahead and am focussing on raising iron and ferritin, and feeling better for it. I have a supply of my current dose from a private endocrinologist so I'll go back to them when I need to renew my prescription.

These GPs really need to catch a hike. My TSH was also 0.05 last time I checked. T4 was 21.9 and T3 6.1 but something tells me that TSH should be low when the rest seems to be functioning alright.

This was an endocrinologist unfortunately but thankfully he realised I was in the right and he was very quick to reinstated my higher dose , just taken my T3 back to where I was before I started so will take me a while to feel better again😟my T4 normally goes back up pretty quickly, just angry at myself , but I suppose I now know where I should be and so does he.
