Hi Guys,

I switched from Thyriod S to Metavive 11

I have been taking 4 X Metavie 11 capsule and 1 X Metavive 1 capsule for the last 3 week.

I got my results back with the following.

Advanced thyroid check

High

THYROXINE STIMULATING HORMONE L 0.09 mIU/L (0.27 - 4.2) FREE THYROXINE 20.1 pmol/l (12.0 - 22.0) FREE T3 H 8.2 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) Result Reported from Referral Laboratory

Doctor said it is high and i could be overmedicated.

Would anyone have advice on the results that i got ?

I did fast the night before and didn't take medication before giving blood.

Thanks

Dan

It does indeed look as if you are over-medicated.

Do you feel right - or not?

Hi helvella,

Feel ok besides very dry mouths in the morning.

Should i lower my dose and test again in 2 weeks ?

Does TSH been suppressed a bad thing ?

Thanks

I'm surprised your TSH isn't even lower. It would not be a concern to me regarding your dosing.

It is your Free T3 at 8.2 despite a gap since last dose that says over-medicated.

Test in two weeks would show the initial effects of a dose change - but it is often said that it takes around six weeks for the changes due to a change to stabilise. Cheaper to wait longer as a two week test would only be showing the direction rather than the end result of a change.

Is it not dangerous have TSH so low ?

Should I reduce by 1xMetavive 11 and test in 6 weeks ?

Thanks very much for your help

Is it not dangerous have TSH so low ?

There are people who have had totally suppressed TSH for decades. Yet appear pretty nearly perfectly well.

The main question seems to be what TSH does other than stimulate the thyroid. There is some evidence that TSH might affect bone - but I suspect excess T3 is more of an issue. Or insufficient T3!

Yes - but I don't know by how much. You can take a guess.

Just don't go mad and drop it by half. A modest adjustment, test, repeat.
