TSH and parathyroid

Ok, might be a dumb question.

So, when the thyroid is underactive, TSH is elevated to kick start the thyroid to produce more thyroid hormone. Does elevated TSH also affect the parathyroid to produce more parathyroid hormone too ? Or they are totally unrelated.

They function completely separately. The thyroid controlling metabolism the parathyroid controlling calcium.

Parathyroid being located so close to thyroid can be damaged during surgery.

Thanks for the reply, the reason I am asking is that since my partial thyroid & parathyroidectomy, I am subclinical hypo with elevated TSH and seeing my parathyroid levels increasing in the blood tests.

Thyroid and parathyroid function is not connected in any way. If your pth level is going up you need to look at it alongside calcium level, if both very high it points to an adenoma, if calcium is low and pth high you need to look at VitD level.
