Just been looking back at my blood tests and found ones from my GP way back in 2017 where my TSH was 5.4 (range 2 - 5.5) Should this have been picked up back then and investigated? It was ignored as it was considered only testing due to family history of thyroid problems. Plus I didn't know anything back then.

Also as my GP is currently faffing around with all the tests etc - they have to repeat as they "forgot" to request T4 during my last test in December (TSH 13.8), they didn't test anything else. I have had surgery for my Endometriosis shortly after so I've not followed up things until now - have the all clear from my Endometriosis specialist. Anyway now the GP is taking ages to book the blood test in; I have ordered an Advanced Thyroid Profile from Thriva. This is so I can talk to my fertility specialist - appointment on Tuesday and have something to discuss because no doubt my thyroid will be in question. The Thriva test has just arrived this afternoon, if I do the test first thing in the morning tomorrow (Friday), send off the same day (of course) will I have my results back before Tuesday midday?

I currently do not take any medication or vitamins.

I've had loads of advice from you guys about additional tests, pushing the GP, fertility, Hashimotos, medication . . . .which has all been brilliant so this is more about an answer to the two questions!

It would be considered normal because it's in range - yes, it's at the top of the range but still doctors will just say it's within range. It would have been a good idea, due to family history, if the doctor has repeated it 3 months later or generally kept an eye on it.

That's not a good idea. All these testing companies tell us to post samples off to arrive, preferably, the next day. We always suggest doing the test Monday - Wednesday and send with next day delivery. Any later, and if the post gets held up, the sample could be sitting in the lab over the weekend and testing would be delayed. Even if you paid for Special Delivery Next Day with Saturday Delivery at an eye watering cost of £11.22 for up to 100g and £12.18 for up to 500g, then there is no guarantee that someone will be there to accept delivery or that the sample will be tested in time. You could check with Thriva to see what they say but I think you are unlikely to be able to do it in time.
