Advice on dosing with metavive and T3? How long does T3 stays in the system?

Any tips on dosing with Metavive and T3?

I take 2 Metavive (15mcg x2) at 4am as my CM dose. This works for me to support my adrenals. I then take 3mcg T3 around 11am. I tried taking an extra metavive during the day but it just doesnt work for me. I am wondering if I should add another dose of T3 around 5-6pm? As I feel tired by 2pm and by the evening I am dragging myself.

NOTE: I am super sensitive and cannot take large doses.. always have been.

The half-life of T3 is about one day. But, the T3 that gets into the cells stays there for about three days. However, as you're on such a low dose, I'm wondering how much can possible get into the cells. It won't be 100%. I think another dose of T3 would probably be a good idea, depends on your blood test results. But, personally, I'd want to take it all at once. I wouldn't split such a small dose.

What exactly half-life means?

I cant split a 3mcg anyway as its tiny! I was thinking of adding another 3mcg at 5-6pm. I tried taking 6mcg at 11am but i felt wired, felt too much.

I always thought T3 does not stay in the system whereas T4 stays a lot longer.

After how long does T3 peak in the body?

Yes, I know you can't split 3 mcg T3, but I meant when you increase it, take it all together.

T3 doesn't stay in the body as long as T4, that's true. But that doesn't mean it leaves immediately. The half-life of T3 in the blood is about 1 day. The half-life of T4 in the blood is about 7 days.

Half-life means that at the end of their given span, there will be half the dose left. So, if you take 3 mcg T3 at 5 pm one day, but 5 pm the next day there will be 1.5 mcg left in the blood. If ou take 50 mcg T4 on Monday, by the following Monday, there will be 25 mcg left. Approximately. But, as you take the same every day, it is constantly topped up, so it doesn't matter.

Thyroid hormones peak in the blood about 2-3 hours after you've swallowed them.

Thanks for your reply!

I am wondering if dosing T3 according to temperature measured might be a good idea? Like say if the temps drop below 36.5 than I know I need a other dose?

Might ask this as a separate question to get answers actually..

No, not a good idea. If T3 is going to make you better, you need a stable, steady dose, the same every day, so that the body feels safe enough to reopen closed receptors. If the dose changes according to temperature - which can vary from day to day - the receptors will remain closed, meaning that symptoms will not improve.

Besides, temperatures are not reliable, so many things can affect them.

I see... how about take the same dose but taken at different times of the day some days?

Why?

Cause I started not so long ago with T3 and I am still not sure what time of the day is best suiting me. So the timing keeps changing.

Ah, ok. So, yes, you do need to experiment to find the times that suit you best. I thought you meant changing it on a regular basis. :)

Yes! And also sometimes I feel wired after taking a dose and some days I don't. So its confusing. At the moment I take 2 metavive (15mcg) at 4am as my CM dose to support my adrenals which works for me. I then take 3mcg at 10-11am. I wonder if I should add another 3mcg around 5-6pm as I feel quite tired in the afternoon.

I am super sensitive and cannot take higher doses. Always have been this way.

Well, it's something you'd have to try, to see how it works out. It's not possible to predict these things. :)

Sorry one more Qs!

Do I have to be very strict with the timings also? Even if it shifts one hour? Say some days I take it at 10am other days at 11am... same with the afternoon dose -some days at 5pm some days at 6pm.

greygoose in reply toOcean2

No, as far as I know, that doesn't make much difference. :)

Phew! That's a relief! 😄 as it's difficult to stick to the same timings every day!

Ocean2 in reply togreygoose

So if I understand correctly; as long as I stick to the same stable dose so that the closed receptors reopen, the timings doesn't matter much?

As far as I know, that's right. :)
