TSH & T4 TESTS RESULTS

Dear Friends,

I had a serum thyroid test two weeks ago and the results below seem like I am on the lowest levels of the Free T4 test. Bone profile normal range.

TSH 1.89 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.20 mIU/L TSH

Free T4 12.6 pmol/L 12.0 - 22.0 pmol/L

I have been having quite sometime symptoms of Hypothyroidism.

I would be most grateful for any advice on these results.

Many thanks.

Catherine

Do you have a diagnosis and on any thyroid medication? Replies will be different depending on your answer :)

Was this test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water

Are you currently taking any levothyroxine?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
