Hi this might be a daft question but I have just started taking some daily vitamins. Mainly A, C and D and Turmeric. Is it safe to take these with levo?

Thanks in advance

Never take any supplements or other medications within 2 hours of levothyroxine

Some supplements and medications must be at least 4 hours away - magnesium and vitamin D included

Have you tested vitamin D?

Test before supplementing

Test folate, B12 and ferritin too

Come back with new post once you get results

Vitamin A not usually recommended.

I would be wary of supplementing vit A as it is very easy to overdose and most people will get plenty - even too much - just by eating a normal diet that includes colourful vegetables. If you eat liver as well, you could easily be getting too much, since vit A is included in lots of personal care products too (look for anything with the word retinol in it). Turmeric needs to be combined with fat and (black) pepper to be effective. With D, you need to take magnesium and vit K2 to make sure it is activated and goes to the right areas of the body. You need to test your vit D in orer to decide whther you need to supplement and how much to take. There are no obvious contraindications with levo as all these substances are found in food.
