Hi I’m on 75mg levo at the moment still not feeling brilliant and was wondering what sort of vitamins I could take that may help
Vitamins : Hi I’m on 75mg levo at the moment... - Thyroid UK
Vitamins
Ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and b12. Important to test these before starting supplements
Do you know if you have high thyroid antibodies? Ask GP to test if not been done. If high this gives cause of hypothyroidism as autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's. Most common reason by far for being hypo
Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after your recent Levo increase to 75mcg to recheck thyroid levels
Dose increase in Levothyroxine in 25mcg steps until TSH is around one and FT4 towards top of range and FT3 at least half way in range
Selenium 200 mcg daily which helps support the thyroid.
I take vitamin C, D, B12, omega 3 fish oil, iron tablets and magnesium at night.
Iron tablets must be taken at least 4 hours away from taking Levothyroxine.
Did you have a blood test for your vitamin levels? As if they low, especially iron and vitamin D Levothyroxine will not work as efficiently.
Best wishes

Nothing will help if you don't need it. More is not better, and can sometimes be dangerous. That's why you need to get tested, as SlowDragon said, and never mind what anybody else takes. You want what's right for you.
Greygoose...... hope its ok to ask you here. I was tested for vitamin D. Range 30-100 Mine came back 18.....The Doctor said just take 2000iu.....I am taking 4000iu which when I go see her............ she may not be happy........... but from all I read thats seems to be a safe amount. I also read on here to take the K2........so I ordered it...... can taking to much K2 cause harm. It's 100 mg . Thanks..... I know the natural way is the sun. But thats not happening here LOL....I am hoping if I get my levels up MAYBE my plantar fasciitis....hips hurt when I lay down and t-bands are sore may ease up LOL Anyway Thanks if you know about Vitamin D. Susita
I don't know much about vit D, no. But you're only taking a tiny dose, so not likely to raise your level much. As your vit d was so low, I think you should have had loading doses. But, I'd take at least 5000 iu daily. I don't know. I think you should post this in a new question, so that those that do know about vit D can reply.
One thing is certain, it's a mistake to ask a doctor about nutrients, because they know nothing!
Thanks are you taking the K2? I will repost thanks again
Me? No. But then, I don't take vit D.
