Can anyone tell me what normal antibody levels should be. I've been told that mine are 254. I have done lots of research on hashimoto auto immune disease and have made changes to my diet and lifestyle and plan to have another blood test soon to see if that has any impact on my levels...But I don't have any idea what normal levels should be. Any help would be much apreciated.

There are two types of thyroid antibodies with Hashimoto’s
TPO - thyroid peroxidase antibodies - typically over 34 is positive for TPO ....though can vary with different labs
TG - thyroglobulin antibodies - typically over 115 is positive. Again can vary with different labs
Essential with Hashimoto’s to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking?
Do you always get same brand......which brand
Are you on strictly gluten free diet
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
The last time I had my thyroid levels checked I was 1.5 but I'm booked in for bloods again on monday.
I currently take 75mg of levothyroxine one day and 100mg the next as we were really struggling to get it below 2 for my ivf....it is always the same brand (teva uk)
Yes I've been on gluton and dairy free diet since new year and I am feeling much better for it!
I'm currently taking selenium, b12, magnesium, vit d, and active folic. I have heard that ashwagandher is good also but not bought yet...you know anything about that?
Literally addicted to researching this subject now haha.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
The aim of levothyroxine is to increase dose upwards until Ft4 is in top third of range and Ft3 at least half way through range (regardless of how low TSH is)
Extremely important to have optimal vitamin levels too as this helps reduce symptoms and improve how levothyroxine works
