Finally went to see an Endio who thought my weight gain and symptoms were possibly as l had been telling GP from them reducing Levo !😡
So she listened and l can up my Levo to 150 great then test to see what is happening but also wants cortisol test done as this could be why l am gaining weight Fair enough but should l be worried ?
I battled to get her to test t3 which she has requested but says they might refuse as my levels are in the normal range ! Not for me l replied ....
She is possibly wanting to test your cortisol levels as you are gaining weight & this may be due to Cushing's disease or syndrome. She's a great Endo for wanting to do this as many of them don't! Is your weight many on your tummy but the rest of you is still quite thin? You can have other symptoms such as insomnia, high blood pressure, easy bruising, weak muscles. Cushing's can be caused by either long term steroid use, a benign tumour in either the pituitary gland or adrenal glands. Cortisol levels vary throughout the day with it being the highest first thing in the morning when it should be around 500nmol/Ls reducing down throughout the day, make sure you get hold of any results. Hopefully it will be due reducing Levothyroxine & not Cushing's. If you ae on Facebook there is a group called Cushing's UK for more information

Hi Your cortisol is on the lower side of normal. Have a read of this leaflet as it gives a chart on page 2 of normal cortisol levels in "normal" people cahisus.co.uk/pdf/CIRCADIAN...
