Test results - Consultation Wed

How can it jump so much from being 1.84 to 11.5? My first test was 17 June 2020 and I was 13.6 then we got me to normal range by going up in 25s. Was on 75mg Levo. Felt great. Now feeling crap and nearly back where I was! Probably going to go up in 25s again to 100 🙄.

Other tests (they don’t give me ranges and I can’t pay for any others)

Folate - 12.6 (normal)

B12 - 519 (normal)

Serum free T4 level 17.2 (normal)

Got a phone consultation with GP wed morning. Any recommendations on what to ask for or say? They are NHS and I can’t go private.

R.e Dr. Wentz diet - I stopped eating gluten which helps me ALOT and means I can still actually go to work and stuff. I also usually avoid dairy (although I sometimes cheat on that one) but it doesn’t have a dramatic effect like gluten does, that makes me feel like I have a fever. Also alcohol if I’m feeling rubbish. I don’t eat Soy products but soy is in a lot of stuff so I do end up consuming it, and I don’t go over my folate intake. I don’t eat too much sugar, but do occasionally and probably have too much when I do.

75mcg is only one step up from starter dose

Yes you need 25mcg dose levothyroxine increase and bloods retested in 6-8 weeks

Do you always get same brand of levothyroxine

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

Who did your tests? The NHS? You might be able to find the lab who actually carried out your tests has webpages online and some hospitals and labs provide links to their reference ranges.

True.

But the Information Commissioner's Office is absolutely clear that information must include codes, etc., which are required to understand the data.

That would necessarily include reference intervals (ranges) and units.

I didn't know that.

I just assume it is doctors and other medical staff/receptionists trolling the patients when reference ranges are not supplied.

It's like they are saying to us "Here's some random numbers. Now let's see you make some sense of that!"

Something like TSH = 5.8 is not, as it stands, intelligible.

It requires BOTH units AND reference interval (reference range) to make it so.

You should provide the information in an accessible, concise and intelligible format.
