Hi. I've just been reading a couple of recent posts about Thyroid Trust. I had never heard of them before so I looked at their webpage to learn a bit more about them, so thanks to those who posted. As they are a thyroid charity do Thyroid UK and Thyroid Trust ever come together at management level to share their knowledge, discuss what their goals are, debate topics etc? If they do, is this a regular thing and has it been productive? If they haven't and don't plan to, why not? Surely charities who support people with thyroid problems, even if their views and opinions may differ, would be eager to find ways to collaborate so that at the very least it would facilitate potentially raising their profile. I have no idea how charities of any kind are run and thinking about this led me to wonder if all charities with similar aims (not necessarily thyroid ones)ever share things for the potential greater good. By the way this is not meant as a criticism of Thyroid UK as they have only been a force for good in my view whether or not they collaborate.
Thyroid Trust: Hi. I've just been reading a... - Thyroid UK
Thyroid Trust

The Thyroid Trust is a relatively new charity, only a couple of years old and only registered with the Charity Commission in May 2019.
By contrast, Thyroid UK’s been around for at least 13 years (according to the Charity Commission) and possibly longer.
I know the Thyroid Trust and Thyroid UK have worked together, specifically on access to liothyronine. I think cooperation goes beyond this but can't speak for either charity!
There is an online presentation on new treatments for Graves' tomorrow night (Wed 2nd) if anyone is interested.
Thyroid Trust has been around for several years and prior to that they were the London branch of the British Thyroid Foundation. Thyroid UK has been around for many years, they started off as the Thyroid Action Group long before I got a PC.
I have been with Thyroid UK since inception, which I think was about 1998. I first heard about the Charity being started via an ad in our local paper about a meeting being held in Colchester. There were about 20 people in the very small room with lynmynott informing us of the job of a thyroid gland. I came out of this meeting much relieved, as all I had heard from The British Thyroid Foundation up till then quite depressed me and was not really helpful to me. I think they have improved since then. Thyroid UK really is the best Thyroid Charity to belong to.
Just wanted to make clear that my post was in no way intended to be a judgement of Thyroid UK or suggest Thyroid UK was inferior to Thyroid Trust. I think Thyroid UK is fantastic. My curiosity I think has been misconstrued as criticising by some, which it most definitely was not😊
