Has anyone had RAI and have it fail? I had my treatment on the 24th Sept. Bloods 3 weeks later were normal, however my heart rate has rocketed in the past few days. My resting is usually mid-high 50's, now it's hovering around 100 and I'm having to use propanolol for the first time in months.
Just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this following RAI?
I have a blood test tomorrow so will hopefully know more in a few days but it's so disheartening. Was really hoping RAI would work or take it hypo 🤦🏼♀️

I’m including a link to the patient information Leaflet given to me by the hospital when they suggested I have RAI. often it’s all the information offered.
The pertinent point “There is no single correct dose and about 10% of patients need a further dose. There are no additional problems associated with having more than one dose.”
If your blood test confirm your suspicion & you are hyper again you may need anti thyroid medication for a few more months. The treatment is still taking full effect then if still remain hyper you will be likely be offered repeat treatment.
What were your last TSH FT3 & FT4 results? Were you able to arrange any nutrient testing?
Unfortunately my last blood test was cancelled so had to go to the hospital for it and they refused to test anything other than the minimal amount the endo had ticked on the sheet. .....a work in progress.
It may take time but it will work eventually. I needed several doses over several months.
I was told that at my age (early 30's) it wasn't recommended to be on the medication long term, especially as I would like to extend my family. My endocrinologist barely mentioned surgery as an option and alluded to it being an absolute last resort with RAI being the preferred 'definitive' option. I initially refused when my daughter was younger, however after repeated pressing from my endocrinologist and once my daughter started year 1 (being a bit less clingy) I decided to bite the bullet and get it done. 😕 However since I've had it I've read some people are given an equal choice between RAI and surgery.
Aw thank you. To be honest I'm sure plenty have it worse. It's just a nightmare when you can't trust your own body isn't it. And when my biological clock is ticking and I'm having to put life in hold to try and get the damn thing in check
