Black seed oil supplement - experiences

Has anyone got experience of taking this. Lots of websites and blogs talking about this substance being abundant in many nutrients and can help with many ailments.

I’m always sceptical when blogs also have links to Amazon etc to buy the product, talk about conflict of interest!

Also keen to know if there’s any reason not to take it when Hypothyroid and taking Levo.

Oh that’s worth knowing. Is that for everyone or just thyroid patients?

I like it and have it as standby if I feel I’m getting an infection. Got to warn you it tastes foul! But get a cold pressed organic one. It helps a lot of people with hair growth apparently. The oil has a lot of fans despite the horrible taste. I hate the taste so much I just keep it in my arsenal for times when I feel my immune system needs a boost.

Hi I have taken them for 9 months to help dry eye symptoms. I had great results for 3-6 months, but weirdly no real benefits after, so I’ve stopped. I may reintroduce again in a few months to see if I get any benefit.

I've been taking it in my morning smoothie for a few years now. Not noticed any issues with being hypo. As said it isn't that pleasant on its own.

Have a look at theblessedseed.com they have 4 strengths. I used the high strength. But started on the normal.

They have changed their website since I last bought I'm sure they had research on there. You could always ask them.

Hopy you give it a try.

My Hashi Iranian friend has made it a couple of times for me and it tastes lovely! She has it every morning for breakfast. I think different seeds can be used and they are all called ‘black seed’ and maybe thats why it tastes so extremely different to people x

What exactly does she make? A tea or a smoothie?

Recipe/instructions would be gratefully received :)

A smoothie. I’ll get the recipe if there is one when I see her next but think she just crushes the seeds up x

Yes I have a quarter teaspoon of seeds that I grind up myself daily. Be sure to get the Nigella Sativa version as there's a variety of Black seeds. Good for inflammation.

Which brand of seeds do you buy and how do you consume the seeds?

Do you grind them daily or in small batches, eg weekly?

I bought iherb.com/pr/kevala-organic...

I grind it up and have it with milk, juice or in a smoothie.

I am in the USA. I hope that the link will be allowed on the site. Any herb store should have Nigella Sativa used in Indian dishes and ayuverda

Yes, the seeds of what plant? Poppy seeds are black. I'd guess there are several plants that have black seeds.

Test the quantity you need to take as the seeds lower cortisol and blood sugar levels. Some can tolerate up to a teaspoon at a time. I grind up the whole amount of seeds and store it in the freezer. It contains no additives or recipients as tinctures and oils.

Best wishes

Didn’t realise you can freeze them.

Do you take out small quantities at a time and keep in the fridge? How long can they be kept after taking out of the freezer.

Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me!

I just take it out of the freezer as I need it. Quarter teaspoon at a time. That way no mold develops. Spices can develop mold.

Really stupid question but how do you take out a spoonful at a time? Surely it all freezes into one big lump?

Mine does not. I even freeze my home made almond flour. You can store it in the coolest part of your refrigerator too.
