Airmid App Update

A little while ago, some members mentioned issues with the Airmid app.

This morning an email arrived from TPP (the company responsible) which says the reference intervals/reference ranges/normal ranges issues have been resolved in the version now available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Their words:

We have just released a development that means Airmid displays the reference ranges that have been sent by the laboratory conducting the test when displaying results (these are the ranges you can see on the NHS app). This update is now available on iOS and Android.

I can't help wondering where they were getting the ranges from before?

Afraid I have no idea if updates can or do ever apply automatically. You might have to allow updates, or apply manually.

I just updated my device & have latest app version & mine is still wrong unfortunately. On some categories It shows 2 ranges on same chart. The first range shown at top of progress chart looks correct, it usually shows the latest result next to it. On some it’s missing & just shows latest result. The 2nd is below the chart lines shows a different wider range. The pink shaded ‘out of range’ seems to reflect the wrong range noted at bottom of the chart. It means results are marked normal when they are not.

Eg

Temp

Top of progress chart (no range) just lastest result

Range below chart 16.0 - 53.0c (rather wide range)

Serum free T4 level

Top of chart range of 8 - 21 & my latest result

Bottom on chart line range of 4 - 27

So my abnormal result is showing in range

Also it say 3 results but 1 is duplicated

AND

Free thyroxin level

Top - just latest result

Bottom - normal range of 5 - 40

Listing, Free thyroxine level & Serum free T4 level separately is confusing. As results for same thing is split.

Also list serum TSH Level and Thyroid stimulating hormone as separate results is confusing.

Serum free triiodothyronine level seemed to be listed once but I’m sure one of my results has been logged wrongly...as in on t4 result.

I did try to log a comment on App Store but every time I submitted it nothing happened.

Hopefully others have better experience using it.

Would you be willing to grab some screenshots? (Or any other evidence you can think of.)

Apparently registered users can post issues there. Looks to be hardly used.

I have registered and logged it as an issue. The app warns against taking screen shots & likely not recommended on their forum, although I'm certain I can take one which doesn't reveal personal information. From other posts it looks like support sometimes asks for them to be sent in with a ref so hopefully it will be looked into soon.

Thanks - am wondering if they weren't even collecting the right ranges from the labs? In which case, just what numbers are they using?

I had a reply from TPP who advises that the reason some of the results have 2 different ranges is that one has been sent by the lab alongside the result. The other range is a generic reference range in the clinical system & used by the clinicians - which is usually wider.

If the lab range is missing (which it is on some results) it’s because it has been manually recorded.

They are planning changing the view to this screen in the coming months so that it uses primarily the reference ranges sent by labs and not the generic wider ranges, which will hopefully address the slightly confusing way the screens work at the moment.

I also raised the issue that some results results such as TSH & FT4 are split between 2 differently worded results but this has not been addressed.

What utter madness - no range but the lab's range matters. In my view.

My thoughts exactly. Who sets the larger range used by clinicians? & why should they differ so widely from lab ranges. It’s wrong.

I do like the progress charts which the Airmid system offer but I also use other systems like the NHS app and system online. I have a fairly good understanding of what the ranges should look like after being diagnosed 2 years ago and reading this forum but I worry new users who are trying to get to grips with a new diagnosis will be confused. Hopefully when they update it will be addressed.
