Vitamin D and Covid
I thought that there had already been studies on this which concluded that vitamin D was both prevented and reduced severity.
I think, from the letter in the paper, that there have been a number of people saying - anecdotally - that they consider that vit D helps; and others saying it makes no difference, but there hasn't been an actual trial until now ...
Yes there have been trials conducted both for prevention and recovery.
Re prevention, see stopcovidcold.com/minimize-... including a useful graph so we can all compare our status. I have the original paper also.
Note: My mum has CKD so needs to be careful but has increased D dosage as she wants to be at the bottom of the curve (but at least she's around the level where the report states most people survive).
Re recovery, see sciencedirect.com/science/a...
Note: of untreated, 2 died whereas none treated did.
So theres evidence of vit D success....but dont tell Mr Hancock! And D is only part of the natural armoury....but medics have got some experimental powders to try on you instead!
Hi userotc, thank you for the links; I must admit that I only did a quick search on vit D and coronavirus trials.
I cannot understand why there is not a recommendation to take vitamin D and to have levels tested. Much is made of double-blind placebo studies but we are being told that any COVID vaccine will be rushed through without full testing; the one has been used for years and the other is an unknown. Why is this? To me it seems astonishing. (I was told on this forum not to reference people to Dr Coimbra who has been treating many thousands of people successfully with high doses of vitamin D (he is a professor of neuroscience) for about 20 years because he does not have any dbp studies to ‘prove’ his protocol; what then of the COVID-19 vaccine?)
I found this on Dr Kendrick’s blog:
lewrockwell.com/2020/10/gar...
It was not posted by Dr K. If these are the effects of the ‘standard’ ‘flu. vaccine (Coronavirus is a ‘flu.) what of the effects of the vaccines currently being tested and then forced on the people at short notice?). I also read that there is a Convention that says that people cannot be forced to take medication (brought in after the Second World War.
(Coronavirus is a ‘flu.)
I think you will find that influenza virus is NOT a coronavirus.

Hi
In the absence of another reason, I can only assume that vitamin D is not recommended or supported because vitamin revenues are only ~25% of total pharma revenues, as I stated in another recent post on here.
Not sure what you mean by dbp but research/studies for natural treatments follows a different approach to allopathic so shouldn't need to fit conventional methods of analysis. In essence, it is more closely aligned with patients.
And as I said in another response, some big pharma companies are very much invested in vitamin D.
They even publish pages which encourage vitamin D supplementation!

I haven’t looked at the links, helvella (will do so later) but I haven’t heard any announcements from Government about supplementation.
Yeah but, as I replied to your response then, it's relative with vitamin revenues only ~25% of total and maybe even a smaller proportion of profits. So, in the absence of a better explanation, I assume they prefer to promote drugs (incl vaccines) rather than vitamins for profit reasons.
Since there are no proven drugs or vaccines for covid, it might seem sensible to promote vitamins but I guess they don't want to set off down that route. Maybe I'm missing something and you have a better explanation?
