Anyone else feel like their dying some days due to Hashimotos?

I keep getting these " flares" every week or two that make me feel awful. It feels like I'm coming down with a viral infection ( shivery/ shakey, weak, etc. My temperature is normal even though I feel cold. Recent full bloods show im slightly undermedicated ( im on t3 only). Within a day or two i start to feel a bit better but the following week I feel like im dying again. I have Hashimotos.

Do you think it’s thyroid or could be something else?

I see you’re on T3 only. Have you ever been on T3 + T4 combo?

When did you last have blood tests? Could be you are under medicated.

I've never been on t3/t4 combo before only either one or the other. My doctor is at a loss regarding my symptoms. I had full bloods done recently and it looks like im slightly under medicated but not enough to cause some of my symptoms (fast heartbeat all day and my chest intermittently feels tight like asthma etc.

Can you post your last results and the ranges please? More likely to get comments with more info.

My latest results are. TSH 0.27 (0.27-4.2) FT4 1 (12-22) FT3 4.8 (3.1-6.8) T4 9 (59-154) TGAB 132 (0-115) TPEX 137 (0-34)

Well 2 things then, one is to get adequate meds and second is to try the combo of T3 and T4.

Yes I think its time I tried a combo. Any suggestions?

I would suggest getting a proper Endo consult and suggest you want a combo. The Endo will also have to play with your dose of each hormone to get it right so it will take time.

My endo discharged me 2 months ago stating that my t4 dose was perfect and my thyroid is now level. They haven't a clue! I'm with a private doc now that prescribed t3 as my doc and endo said no to ant t3 even though I was so ill on eltroxin.

I do see people on here who do well on T3 only and wonder if it would work for me but when I reduce t4 I feel very poorly. I feel I need the constant that you get from t4 as well as the lifts I get from the T3 boosts across the day. But still experimenting.

We are all different and I totally agree with you that some people do indeed need combo.

I agree that the highs and dips from T3 only are hard to maintain.

i feel like this often and in fact recently got tested for covid (results: negative) as i really thought i might have something. i am on combo treatment but still working out proper dosing, though i have an added complication of being allergic/ hypersensitive to T3 which i am also still working with docs to sort out.

so all to say just that you’re not alone with feeling often like you have a mystery viral infection. i will say i have felt that less often since raising my lio and levo 5 weeks earlier tho feel more tired and otherwise still no better

What symptoms make you think you're allergic to T3? I've found it a huge struggle to tolerate it - ear pain jaw ache head pain - but it's certainly better if I don't let the t4 go too low. So many symptoms I've never any idea what's a sensitivity and what's 'normal'!

Hi JAmanda, I’ve found T3 difficult to figure out all around too but others’ success with it has spurned me on so far!

In terms of my allergy it causes primarily hives, facial swelling, and all over skin irritation / sensitivity among other less well defined symptoms. Do you have issues even at very small doses (ie 1.25 or 2.5 mcg) and have you tried different formulations/brands? If not, those things might help pinpoint the issue. If even very low doses are problematic, trying compounded T3 (which only has a couple other inert ingredients - cellulose, the vegetable capsule) from a compounding pharmacy is one sure fire way of determining whether T3 or another ingredient is the issue.

For ear pain jaw ache etc I personally wonder if it’s a matter of things like not having the needed cofactors to handle the T3. For instance I know I get a fast heart rate as I raise my dose without enough iron in my system and supplementing with iron makes an immediate difference. I’m not sure what cofactors might affect jaws and ears - personally still have very little understanding of the complex world of T3. I can say that as I’ve raised my T3 my issues with clenching/grinding have unexpectedly improved, for what it’s worth. Hope you can figure it out!

I know how you feel. i liken it to playing an arcade game, when we get to the end of the level we have to defeat the boss or go back to square one. I can not remember how many times I've played and progressed to a fantastic level then got crushed by an end level boss. I guess these bosses are are triggers or root causes. For me, I'm thinking that when I'm progressing i get too pleased with myself, too confident, too self aware which I'm assuming the big boss writes up as too much pride? or a vice of some kind or another. Ive recently looked into the 11 virtues which if you over exert or under exert can be a vice and a reason to fail.

We must have left something back there?

Just before my hair started to fall out i had an overwhelming within me which was indicating i was to lose my hair? strange i know but a few short weeks later my hair started to fall out. I don't usually post pictures of myself on facebook but prior to my hair loss i did post a pic of my hair. Im now guessing was an act of too much pride and my penance to rid me from this sin was to lose my hair. Im wondering about wearing one of those cover alls in case I'm a chronic sinner.
