DHEA result

Looking for any guidance having got saliva test results back. My last thyroid test on 19/08/20, having reduced Levo from 75 to 50 mcg (to try and increase depressed TSH of 0.01 - Endo's advice).

TSH 0.01 (0.35 - 5.00 mU/L) T4 12.1 (9.0 - 21.0 pmol/L)

T3 4.8 (3.0 -6.0 pmol/L

Am also taking 10 mcg T3 in 2 divided doses - have been on this since start of trial in Aug. 2019.

Recent private test VitB12 - 97.1 pmol/L (37.5 - 187.5).

Vit D - 155 nmol/L (50 - 175). Have been supplementing for some time.

Symptomatic with hair thin/shedding, feeling cold and occasionally very hot/ forgetting words, energy low, etc. Am 75 and tend to think - OK this is maybe how it's going to be and thinking I will be placated to accept this by Endo or GP if I go. It's hard enough to approach them in the first place. Have upped my Levo back to 75 mcg. but don't know whether this will make much difference. Would appreciate any thoughts on the saliva test and in general. Thanks for reading.

You need folate and ferritin tested

Low ferritin linked to hairloss

So these results are from how many weeks on reduced dose levothyroxine...down from 75mcg to 50mcg ?

Was this test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24: hours before test and last 5mcg dose T3 8-12 hours before test?

TSH 0.01 (0.35 - 5.00 mU/L)

T4 12.1 (9.0 - 21.0 pmol/L)

T3 4.8 (3.0 -6.0 pmol/L

Am also taking 10 mcg T3 in 2 divided doses - have been on this since start of trial in Aug. 2019.

You mean 2 x 5mcg T3?

Or 2 x 10mcg T3?

Ft4 is only 25% through range

Ft3 is 60% through range

That Ft4 result would be too low for many people

TSH is almost always suppressed on T3

Thanks for your reply, and mentioning the ferritin. Last tested 15/11/19 and was 75 ug/L (15 - 200). Folate last tested 30/09/19 and was 16.8 ug/L (3.0 - 20.0). I had hair loss before with low ferritin - should have realised. GP said "you can take some iron if you like" but no advice given on how much. Endo asked me to reduce Levo 30/06/20 and I re-tested 7 weeks later on 19/08/20 -(12.15). Haematology centralised and didn't get an earlier slot. Had breakfast at 8 am but no medication until after test.

T3 I take is 2 doses of 5 mcg per day. Once I got the results of last blood test on 19/08/20 I increased the levo back up to 75 mcg. I guess I could ask for ferritin and folate to be tested and also let endo see the saliva test results. This is an amazing resource with lots of articles and information, though I sometimes feel very unsure of what is a sensible course.

Might consider testing zinc ....can be linked to hairloss

Or just add in a zinc supplement couple times a week
