Hello, I have hashimotos disease and have been medicated for just over a year.
However I find my anxiety levels have gone into overdrive to the point I suffer with globus sensation I also seem to get a slight sore throat on my right side when eating certain foods (I have no tonsils!) And now I'm driving myself mad with worry but with everything the more you concentrate on something the more it seems an issue.
I've always been quite anxious but recently it has got quite bad.

I was on citalopram for years as I was anxious and had panic attacks.
Turns out I was undermedicated with low FT4 and Ft3. Although they were still in the normal range the levels were too low for me. I could get anxious even doing nice things such as lunch in a quiet restaurant with my family.
This was because I lacked thyroid hormones to keep me going. what I lacked in hormones the body made up for with adrenalin. It was not a good way to live.
If you have recent blood results post them on here with the ranges and we will comment to see if we can help you to better health.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially as you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's)
What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?
Ask GP to test vitamin levels
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
Its very common for hashimoto’s patients to suffer from anxiety / depression for a variety of different reasons. Stress because you can’t keep up with your life through fatigue; mental and physical fatigue; joint pain and other difficult symptoms; chemical changes in the brain due to autoimmune attacks - to name a few.
be useful to know all your bloods??
Feel your pain - i had really bad anxiety before i was diagnosed. once i was on the right combination of medication, i was able to live a good life and be content with my situation.
Im hypothyroid and when 1st diagnosed i had panic attacks galore and mentioned ut to my dictor as they were really bad panic attacks. He told me it wasnt my rhyroid causing it because anxiety is associated with hyperthyroidism not hypothyroidism but he said the hypothyroudism can knock yoyr coping mechanism which alliws the anxiety to breakthrough. Hmmmm. Just my experience though
