Oh my the price of NDT! I have been on NDT (self-medicating) for 3 years and haven't had to buy any for a while. I just looked at my usual supplier and the price for 1,000 Thai Thiroyd is $347 - in 2019 I bought them for $89 - what is going on?
Actually most of the NDT on this site is sold out - is there a worldwide shortage? Have I missed something?
Can anyone PM me with their supplier - is NDT available at a reasonable price anywhere? I am in the UK.
At that price I might as well buy the American or Canadian stuff or go to a private doctor?

1) The thyroid powder needed to make the pills mostly came from China, and unfortunately a disease hit Chinese pigs that meant they had to be extensively culled :
As a result the cost of the thyroid powder has rocketed all over the world.
2) I don't know the actual details, but Thailand changed their regulations so that making any medicines of any kind became far more expensive to the manufacturers. They had to get licensed in some new way??? I'm really not sure of any details.
3) There used to be three Thai brands of NDT - Thiroyd, TR-Man, and Thyroid-S. Both TR-Man and Thiroyd have given up production. So now there is no competition for Thyroid-S in Thailand. Everybody who previously bought the other brands is probably buying Thyroid-S if they can, so any competitive element in pricing has disappeared as well, and stocks have vanished.
I'm surprised you've even found Thiroyd as it ceased production in 2019.
Thyroid-S is either sold out, on back order, and not expected to have another production run until the end of the year at the earlies, so you may have difficulty finding that.
If anyone can help they will send you a PM and I will turn off replies to that no information about suppliers is posted on the forum.
