The TPO antibodies are just there to clean up after an immune attack on the thyroid. They tend to be highest just after an attack, when they go to work to clean up, but they do fluctuate all the time. So, there is no real significance in high levels. It's just that their mere presence tells you you have Hashi's. That's all. :)

I don't think that's the full story:

tandfonline.com/doi/full/10...

"Elevated TgAb levels are associated with symptom burden in HT patients"

"Our key and novel finding is the existence of significant positive correlation between TgAb levels and the number of symptoms (r = 0.25, p = 0.0001) in HT patients without LT4 therapy that remained significant after adjustment for TPOAb, T3, TSH levels and thyroid volume (β = 0.66, SE = 0.3, p = 0.0299). Increased TgAb levels are significantly associated with fragile hair (p = 0.0043), face edema (p = 0.0061), edema of the eyes (p = 0.0293) and harsh voice (p = 0.0349)."

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

"This study revealed that high levels of TgAb may act as an independent prediction factor for differentiated thyroid carcinoma, and suggests that patients with high TgAb concentrations may be predisposed to DTC."

TgAb = thyroglobulin antibodies

And these are just two articles I found from a quick Google search. There are no doubt more.

Interesting cause my hair is falling out. My question is should I push for a ct if thyroid or not?

Sorry I can't advise on that, I've never had one and I'm not sure when they are used. Someone else here would be able to discuss it with you though!

It can't do any harm. It will show any damage done by Hashi's, and any nodules, or whatever. :)

6 days ago you posted vitamin results and SeasideSusie commented that they were all low and asked if you were supplementing ? Your low Ferritin could be causing your hair loss. Are you supplementing ? Low vitamins and minerals often go hand in hand with Hashimotos.

I'm starting to supplement but my stomach is gastric. I am taking b12 chewable to try and they're providing UK ng ok

I have at moment vit d drops which I'm using until I find higher dose ones.

You will need some iron too ! Maybe a B12 lozenge that dissolves under the tongue would be better for you - bypassing the stomach.

But we weren't talking about Tg antibodies. The question was about high TPO - actually, maybe I was wrong, but I thought the OP meant TPO antibodies. Soundwell1 ?
