Since switching from Armour medicine to Levothyroxine 50 mcg, (synthroid )and

Liothyronine,5mcg( cytomel, )finally lost couple of pounds, to 112 lbs now( would like to be 110) However, I have excess gas and bloating. Anyone else have this issue?

I exercise daily - walks, tai chi etc, I am in my golden years. Fortunate to be living in USA with lots of good green space, acres of land to walk! Thanks

Have you got your thyroid blood test results with the ranges?

I used to get bloating when I was under prescribed. Am also sensitive to yeast so avoid products with yeast in like bread - that also causes bloating. My cousins the same. She doesnt have a thyroid problem. Just a thought....

What were thyroid results?

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last half of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Hi Suzi - I've been taking pre and probiotics for the last 10 years which sorted this problem out.
