I have Hashimotos as I have 107ku/L Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies ( less than 60).
I am currently on 75mg of Levo having been upped from 50 ugm since the end of November 2018.
Have seen an endo as my T4 is outside the range 25.0pmol/L (12.00-22.0).
He was not interested in this or the fact that my T3 is near to the bottom of the range too, 3.2pmol/L (3.1-6.8). He was not interested in giving me any T3 saying it contributed towards brittle bones and they didn't do it now, so waiting three months was in the end just a waste of time.
I am suffering dreadfully with bloating, this is driving me nuts. I have been having a small amount of cider vinegar, and tried to have some probiotic yoghurt., but it doesn't seem to cut this 4-5 month pregnancy feeling. Anyone got any quick fixes? . I could go to the doctor but don't hold out much hope that they can or will know what to do to help. I have just purchased Isabella Wentz's Hashimoto's Protocol maybe this will have some answers, but I am a bit worried it will be a total overhaul of my diet. I have left out gluten since November but this has not made much difference to my bloating. Would dairy be the next to go? I am loathed to do this, cheese being one of my staples.
Any advice would be great, thanks in advance.

Hello Goofball, I'm struggling to balance my T3 and T4 dose but if I had your T3 score I would be a zombie! Your results need following up - your over range T4 should be converting to ample T3 - its not - so either you aren't converting to T3 or there is some other problem ( not a medic so cant say)- you should insist on a an explanation for the high t4 levels failing to raise t3 into range. You may not need T3 but The NHS does prescribe T3 especially where T3 is at bottom of range despite levothyroxine and where symptoms are still present so you should persist. In terms of bloating, I had so much bloating when on T4 only that I went up a few shirt sizes and looked like a barrel. T3 is no wonder drug but my bloating resolved very rapidly once i began T3 treatment. I think that you can try all the home remedies going but until they sort out your low T3 you are likely to feel unwell.
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm not sure what 'normal' feels like any more. I will have to go back to the doctor and will try to get some answers. Like I say the endocrinologist just was not interested, and it was like 'why are you bothering me?, you are within range on everything, (even the high T4 didn't seem to bother him), so go away. I am guessing because I don't have any major major symptoms except for the bloating, he just didn't want to help.
I disagree that there’s nothing you can do for bloating I had the same thing. Digestive enzymes and proteolytic enzyme‘s are doing away with the bloating for me. Izabelle Wentz recommends enzymes as well and has a whole new book that has a chapter on the enzymes. The functional doctor that I see here in the United States also talked about enzymes. He said the reason why people with Hashimoto’s could not convert the T4 to T3 is a cause they lack the enzymes. it takes a while for the bloating to go away around three months but it is amazing how it starts to fall away!
Then what Mike77 says falls into place - once he got T3 the bloating went away.
I do believe the proteolytic enzyme‘s were more instrumental in reducing the bloat for me then the digestive enzymes. I also take HCl for digestion. And I take T3 as in NDT.
Some reason those of us with Hashimoto’s have a digestive problem and issue with the gut that mean we’re very well be the reason why we have a thyroid problem in the first place. Isabella Wentz that’s her whole theory and she says Hashimotos can be reversed with diet. Again bloat and gut issues go hand-in-hand. There definitely is something you can do about the bloat and I believe the key is enzymes.
Thanks for the help. How do I get to take probiotics? do I go to the doctor who tells me what to take? Will this help bloating without the aid of T3 please? Yes I think that's the book I have I will check up on the chapter on probiotics.
I would also actualy recommend probiotic treatment. I am sure you already know the importance and uses of probiotics so i will go straight away and recommend you to take a look at Flourish Probiotics by Eu Natural. 18 Potent Strains, 14 Billion CFU. This is basically a supplement which will provide you with healthy bacteria that will support digestion and gut, hence improving your overall well being and immune system.
