Results are back although has flagged up Liver issues

He everyone I posted last week I now have my results back from Medicheck

Previous results were

TSH 3.1 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3 3.97 (3.1-6.9)

Free Thyroxine 15.70 (12-22)

Tested positive antibodies

Vitamin D 39.5 (50-175)

Results just received

TSH 2.42 (0.27-4.2)

Free T3 4.02 (3.1-6.9)

Free Thyroxine 16.10 (12-22)

Vitamin D 55.8 (50-175) I am supplementing with oral Vit D & K and the result has improved slightly from my previous result.

I am on current dose of 25mcgs which I was started on and it hasn't changed. The only thing that has changed recently is I changed from TEVA which I felt was causing me issues to Mercury.

I still feel off kilt and although there is a very slight improvement in my T3 and Free Thyroxine after 9 weeks I think I still have a way to go so I am thinking that an increase of 25mcgs would be advisable. What do others think should I wait until the next blood draw which is in 7 weeks time? I think I am still on the lower end of the scales?

Meanwhile the blood results have flagged up that my Liver enzymes and Ferritin levels are high and I actually had a telephone call from Medichecks to enquire/check I had made an appointment to see my GP has anyone else ever had contact regarding abnormal results? I was pleased that they were following up to make sure I had seen and was taking action. I don't take any Iron supplements and the blood draw was taken 8am fasting and no levo for 26 hours previously.

Any advice on my Thyroid panel results greatly appreciated.

So GP needs to increase dose levothyroxine up to 50mcg

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks later

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Is this how you do your tests?

How much vitamin D are you taking?

Are you also taking magnesium

Aiming to improve vitamin D to at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better

What about B12 and folate levels?

How high is ferritin?

As you have Hashimoto’s have you had coeliac blood test yet?

Thanks for replying yes that's how I've done the tests fasting and delayed levo dose. Vitamin D and K Oral spray 3 squirts.

Folate 5.76 (Range > 3.89)

B12 Active 52.70 (Range >37.5)

Ferritin 225 (13-150)

No not tested Coeliac

Ferritin only slightly raised ...common with Hashimoto’s...due to inflammation...or possibly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Folate and B12 both low

supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Suggest you increase vitamin D to 4 x a day

Thanks for all that useful information Liver enzymes way out of range so possibly fatty liver as I've had trouble in the past I've got a GP appointment tomorrow due to the remarks made by Medichecks GP reporting.

I don't take any Bioitin but will source vitamin B supplements.

It's very likely that you have a fatty liver for some reason.

Fatty liver can be caused by various problems - this list is not complete :

Insulin resistance

High carb diet

High sugar diet

Diabetes

High fructose diet

Drinking lots of alcohol

Thanks for replying I've had issues in the past with raised liver enzymes and they couldn't get to the bottom of it as the levels went back to normal over time. I don't drink alcohol at all so it would need to be non alcohol related. I do have sjogrens syndrome so apparently there is a connection with Primary biliary cirrhosis which they suspected last time. I'm not sure if I have something going on with my gall bladder too :0( I've have a few red herrings in the mix which is making it difficult to get to the bottom of things. I had bloods done by Medichecks to see if anything untoward would show up and the Liver enzymes are way over the range. I'm hoping tomorrow to be referred for an ultrasound if not then it will be the bank balance that is depleted once again shouldn't have to but it would appear that Covid is still having an affect on the NHS .
