Ferritin blood test result back for 10 year old with hashi

Hi there

Well finally had ferritin blood test and full blood count done at surgery.

I have been told that full blood count and ferritin normal and no further action required. My daughters ferritin was at 34 in January, she has grown since and also started her periods in Feb. Her ferritin level has now come back at 30 however the gp had given iron syrup in June this year and I have been givining her this on a daily basis which is the reason her ferritin is now at 30, otherwise it would have been alot lower. The ref range is 10 to 211.

Should I continue to give her iron for a little while longer as I feel that if i stop her ferritin level will no doubt go down.

Have you managed to get her B12, folate and vitamin D tested yet?

No the doctor refused to test vitamin D and B12. Although in Jan Vitamin D was 54 and I am giving her vitamin D supplements. Her b12 was i think at time was around 500 mark.

NHS will only test vitamin D once every 2 years
