I have reduced dose of thyroid-s from 1.75 to 1.50 grains on advice of some members. What is bothering me is FT3 is 8.4, I understand this will lower if I reduce thyroid-s. But...how long does it take and in the meantime is FT3 dangerous?

p.s. I am a worry wart and how

It shouldn't take very long, because the half-life of T3 is about 23 hours. But, your high FT3 isn't going to do you any harm in that short period. It's not that high. It's not as high as it would be if you had Grave's, for example. I wouldn't worry about it, if I were you.

Thanks for reassuring reply....not sure though what sort of harm I would experience. Until I was told about the 8.4 T3 I didn't know what it was anyway I have been on 1.5 thyroid-s for 3 days now and if nothing untoward happens will keep to this for 6 weeks or so and retest

Well, long-term high levels of T3 can damage the heart, for example. But it would probably have to be higher than that for a long time.

And, of course, it could cause hyper-type symptoms, like heavy sweating, lose bowels, rapid heart beat, insomnia, etc. You just want the right dose of T3, not too much and not too little, to be well. :)

Only symptom listed is sweating but I put that down to the high temperature and it has lessened now that I've reduced NDT by half a grain

3 days is how long it takes for me to feel a reduction of T3 meds.

Thanks, I have been on reduced dose for 3 days now and I THINK ? I feel reduction. Will keep to lowered dose if feel all right and retest in 6 weeks or so
