Can someone help me with my blood test results? I've been taking 320mg daily of Metavive but I stopped 3 days before the test. The doc said everything is normal apart from B12 but he just wants to monitor that.

Some help with my blood test tesults

See different GP for full testing for Pernicious Anaemia
At very least you will either need regular B12 injections or daily B12 supplements
Folate is also extremely low
No proper thyroid tests were done and you stopped Metavive more than 12 hours before tests so they would have been inaccurate anyway. However, your B12 and folate are way too low. I would hop over to the HU Pernicious Anaemia group and see what they say about those results. Your GP should be offering B12 injections, not just monitoring. No ferritin or Vitamin D result.

As Angel_of_the_North says ...last half or third of daily dose of Metavive should be taken 8-12 hours before test
Just testing TSH is completely inadequate. Essential to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together
TSH is high for someone on Metavive
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
See different GP and ask for full testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting any B vitamins vitamins
Also ask that they test vitamin D levels
There’s no info on your profile...are you diagnosed as hypothyroid?
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested?
If not they need testing
Do you have any thyroid results from before starting on Metavive
Please add them if you have any ...plus a little info on story so far
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3 or NDT or Metavive make sure to take last half or third of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Definitely ask advice on PAS Health unlocked re EXTREMELY low B12 and folate ......you are highly likely to need B12 injections
Are you vegetarian or vegan?

You probably have plenty of Low B12 symptoms

Once you have had testing for Pernicious Anaemia, if you need B12 injections, you have several injections over a week or so ....to start off...then injections are often once every 3 months ...but some people need them more frequently
As well as injections, recommended on here to also supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and may improve and maintain B12 levels between injections

If you have Hashimoto’s ..Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

Do not start any B vitamin supplements until had further test
B vitamins best taken after breakfast
Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)
Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
