Parathyroids overactive

Hello everyone ♥️

I know most on here don't know to much about the parathyroid glands but mine has showed overactive..

Serum parathyroid hormone 8.1 pmol/L.... Range.. 1.60-6.9 pmol/L..

Serum Calcium.. 2.6 mmol/L... Range.. 2.10-2.60 mmol/L

Serum albumin.. 49 g/L.. Range.. 35.00-50.00..g/L

Serum sodium 142 mmol/L.. Range.. 133.00-146.00 mmol/L

Serum creatinine 92 umol/L range.. 49.00-90.00 umol/L

The thing that is concerning me the most is my endo knows my PTH is raised she is now looking for calcium in my urine, unfortunately my output of urine was to low for the last test, this is because I feel very unwell I feel sick have no appetite got most symptoms of hyperparathyroidism and I know what they are as I was diagnosed in 2004 with it.. I have sent her an email stating that in order to diagnosis hyperparathyroidism you do not need to have a high calcium level with a raised PTH, in some 20% of cases the parathyroid hormone will be high but the calcium will remain normal, unfortunately most endos and GPS go off NHS guidelines for calcium levels which tends to include the whole population under one roof, to clarify a teenager say 18 years will not have the same calcium level as say a women in her 50s as we get older our calcium levels change. It's also known that calcium levels can change during menopause. Most endos do a wait and see approach to see if calcium will rise above 11.5 it is shown that women over 50 usually have calcium levels in the 9s so anything above this will constitution high calcium for that person.. Now my endo is requesting more bloods and another 24hour urine test!!! I feel she is playing for time!! Any raised PTH should be investigated further, unfortunately she is trying to find any raised calcium in the urine she has only found what she considers to be normal levels in the blood. In the mean time I'm in bed exhausted, tired feel sick most days, sharp pain in my neck pain on swollowing tremor, pins and needles in hands and legs, sweating, and heart palpitations thirst although I'm finding it hard to get enough fluids down due to feeling sick I'm so tired I'm sleeping a lot like I've been given a sleeping drug so sick of this.... Only had total thyroidectomy in May last year.. Now this!!! 😩😩😩😩

What dose levothyroxine and T3 are you currently taking

Are you currently taking any B12 or vitamin B complex?

Hi slowdragon ❤️

I was using the vit D spray but for some reason I've lost it.. 😭 I'm not taking any other vitamins or complex.. I'm on T3 only 20mg..ive been splitting the dose 10mg morning 10mg evening I'm now adding 5mg to the 20mg been doing that for over 3wks my endo has said she wants to up the dose but hasn't said what to or done anything about it so I've added the 5mg myself.. But its the level of PTH that's a problem obviously something is going on with the parathyroid glands as I said before you don't need a high calcium and high pth to diagnosis hyperparathiyroidism.. I've sent her my vitamins and minerals results as I feel their low... Also she is only going by my vitamin D level from Feb this year.. I'm sure you should have calcium, PTH and vitaminD done at the same time..

Thanks for the reply ❤️

Your previous post you said Endo wanted you to up T3 dose to 40mcg

We all advised that you increase slowly in 5mcg steps

Perhaps time to add the next 5mcg increase

What time are you taking your current doses?

Taking vitamin D supplements can increase calcium levels. So this can cause high calcium levels

Are you taking vitamin D spray that includes vitamin K2 Mk 7?

Taking vitamin K2 Mk7 helps send excess calcium into bones ....so excess calcium not floating around in blood

Vitamin K2 mk7

Hi

As I said I was taking vitamin D spray with k 2 mk 7 got it from Holland and Barratt but I've lost it a while back so not been supplementing for sometime.. 2 bloods showed high calcium so endo said.. Also i have calcification of both wrists both ankles and knees.. My calcium is top of the range. Also I had kidney stones in july/ Aug last year.. My endo doesn't seem to be doing much only requesting more bloods... Even if parathyroid blood comes back normal their is always a reason why they have gone overactive in the first place... 😠
