Hello everyone ♥️
I know most on here don't know to much about the parathyroid glands but mine has showed overactive..
Serum parathyroid hormone 8.1 pmol/L.... Range.. 1.60-6.9 pmol/L..
Serum Calcium.. 2.6 mmol/L... Range.. 2.10-2.60 mmol/L
Serum albumin.. 49 g/L.. Range.. 35.00-50.00..g/L
Serum sodium 142 mmol/L.. Range.. 133.00-146.00 mmol/L
Serum creatinine 92 umol/L range.. 49.00-90.00 umol/L
The thing that is concerning me the most is my endo knows my PTH is raised she is now looking for calcium in my urine, unfortunately my output of urine was to low for the last test, this is because I feel very unwell I feel sick have no appetite got most symptoms of hyperparathyroidism and I know what they are as I was diagnosed in 2004 with it.. I have sent her an email stating that in order to diagnosis hyperparathyroidism you do not need to have a high calcium level with a raised PTH, in some 20% of cases the parathyroid hormone will be high but the calcium will remain normal, unfortunately most endos and GPS go off NHS guidelines for calcium levels which tends to include the whole population under one roof, to clarify a teenager say 18 years will not have the same calcium level as say a women in her 50s as we get older our calcium levels change. It's also known that calcium levels can change during menopause. Most endos do a wait and see approach to see if calcium will rise above 11.5 it is shown that women over 50 usually have calcium levels in the 9s so anything above this will constitution high calcium for that person.. Now my endo is requesting more bloods and another 24hour urine test!!! I feel she is playing for time!! Any raised PTH should be investigated further, unfortunately she is trying to find any raised calcium in the urine she has only found what she considers to be normal levels in the blood. In the mean time I'm in bed exhausted, tired feel sick most days, sharp pain in my neck pain on swollowing tremor, pins and needles in hands and legs, sweating, and heart palpitations thirst although I'm finding it hard to get enough fluids down due to feeling sick I'm so tired I'm sleeping a lot like I've been given a sleeping drug so sick of this.... Only had total thyroidectomy in May last year.. Now this!!! 😩😩😩😩
