Can anyone shed light on these Medichecks Neutrophil/Globulin blood results please?

Hi All

I am hypo, on NDT and my main symptom is muscle aches, which I've had since Dec 16 and are progressing.

And I'd love to find an answer for them.

Searching for an answer, I forwarded these Medichecks Neutrophil/Globulin blood results to my GP last week and had the tel appointment today.

The Medichecks doctors always say that the under range Neutrophil and over range Globulin results are a sign of a recent infection.

However, my GP did not seem concerned enough to investigate further.

So, can I ask if these consistently low/under range Neutrophil and high/over range Globulin results warrant further investigation?

NEUTROPHIL/GLOBULIN RESULTS

23 Feb 19

Neutrophil 2.22 (2 - 7.5)

Globulin. 39.2. ( 19 - 35)

(All below ranges are as above)

5 July 19

Neutrophil. 2.2

GLobulin. 33

20 Sept 19.

Neutrophil. 2.5

Globulin. 33.3

10 Jan 20.

Neutrophil. 1.64

Globulin. 38.3

6 July 20.

Neutrophil 1.71

Globulin. 37.8

Any ideas gratefully received, as usual.

Thanks

I’m not a doctor, just an amateur sleuth :) but I’d guess you’ve probably got a low grade infection and / or an autoimmune issue going on. An autoimmune issue could just be your thyroid problem—do you have Hashi’s? Potentially you have another autoimmune issue to go with it—autoimmune diseases do tend to hunt in packs... Whereas a low grade infection could be something like a tooth slowly decaying—had any root canals or similar? That’s just an example. I’ve had problems with a root canalled tooth for some time which I swear led to all kinds of other aches and pains—finally had the offending tooth out about a month ago and I swear that other niggling issues I’ve had for a while are starting to improve.

I’d say that if it was something more serious that the levels would be significantly worse. You’ve said in previous posts that your liver and kidney tests are ok, so that’s good news.

Thanks jazzw for your helpful points

Yes I have Hashis with both TGO and TPO well over the range

But, I've just found some old Neutrophil/ Globulin results from before Dec 16, when I wasn't Hypo, and they too are the same pattern as now

Not had any dental work for 2 years, when I just had an old filling redone

Pleased to note that your recent dental work helped

Are you sure your thyroid results are optimal. My shoulders and arms ache or feel like pulled muscles if I don't take care with various thyroid levels. I take vitamin supplements too. Even the strength in my hands for opening jars etc is effected and can feel sprained.

What about your thyroid antibodies ? Good advice from Jazzw too. I often wonder about the amount of mercury I've consumed from my broken fillings and dental work.

I hope you can solve the mysteries and gain your health .

Gosh, we could be twins! I also get weak legs and my gluteus maximus/maximii 🤔 aren't always as maximus as they should be.

Hi sarfran

Hope your aches improve!

I have Hashi’s and autoimmune disease with the same aches and weakness in my shoulders and down the front of my arms, sore thumb joints and hips and mortens neuroma in my feet. I am 57, eat well and exercise regularly and am taking supplements and now having acupuncture. I think my thumb joints are similar to most people of my age but the shoulder aches are different. I do wonder if it’s a result of a virus or maybe side effect of Levothyroxine?

Thanks marymary7

My TSH is 0.1 (0.22-4.20)

FT4 12 (12-22)

So, TSH is very low and FT4 too low?

I'm on 1.5 NDT

Thanks

Yes that t4 is too low. As you can see it's at the bottom of the range. Need the T3 levels and ranges too, also thyroid antibodies. You also need high enough vitamin D3 and k2 plus Magnesium plus other supplements which others are good at?

SeasideSusie gives excellent advice.

in reply to Marymary7

Thank you marymary7

I take 15 ug D, 200mcg K2 Mk 7 and 100 Mag

I'm minded to add a little bit of Levo to bring the FT4 up?

Thanks

You need to know the T3 levels that's the crucial bit.

Ft4 is frequently low when on a NDT ...most important results is always Ft3

Testing should be done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last 1/3rd or 1/2 of daily dose NDT 8-12 hours before test

Is this how you do your tests?

in reply to SlowDragon

Yes, I always do a fasting bloods, with just plenty of water

And take the NDT just after

Thanks

TPO. 56. (<34)

Thanks

So this was all same test ?

TSH is 0.1 (0.22-4.20)

FT4 12 (12-22)

FT3 4.63 (3.1-6.8)

Was last half or third of daily dose of NDT 8-12 hours before test

in reply to SlowDragon

Hi

Last NDT taken 24 hours before test

Then took NDT again straight after test

Thanks

Bloods should be tested by splitting dose day before test and taking 1/2 or 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours before test

Your Ft3 will be false low result if last dose 24 hours before testing

Many people find it better to split NDT into two doses everyday

in reply to SlowDragon

Thanks for the tip

Wasn't aware of that

Will split NDT 50/50 the day before next bloods for sure

Daily, I prefer to take NDT 100% in one go

Usually in the morning, but occasionally in the evening

Is there a best time to take NDT, if you don't split?

Thanks again

Sorry long time since I took NDT ...though I did always split it am and pm

I take levothyroxine once a day (bedtime) and split dose T3 - as 3 small doses at 8 hour intervals

Thank you

Low neutrophils can be linked to being hypothyroid, especially autoimmune

Thanks slowdragon

Interesting link you have provided

Which suggests that low neutrophils is linked with hypo

Also suggests trying zinc, selenium and C, which I do

Thanks
