You could reduce your NDT and add some levo which would give you some control over both your levels FT4 and FT3.
Thank you,my levels have been up and down for so long now,it's really just knowing how much levo I should take.
Well it will take time and be a bit of guesswork on your part. Reductions in NDT are done by quarter grain. So if this was me I would start there.
I know nothing about NDT or you so this is just guesswork going by how I worked towards my doses of levo and lio. Please ignore it if your instinct tells you it is wrong for you.
I would then wait a week or two - or 6 weeks if you wanted to do a blood test. Then I would add in 25mcg levo.
Hold it there and wait 8 weeks and do bloods.
Hello Sylus
Do you feel over medicated ?
How long did you leave between the blood draw and your last dose ?
I think if you are well on that dose and want to do a blood test to be " in range " you need to leave 24 hours - like you would do if on Levothyroxine-T4.
NDT was not meant to be used or dosed by blood test ranges and numbers - you dose to the relief of symptoms.
The blood test, ranges and guidelines were all introduced to be used alongside the new, ground breaking thyroid hormone treatment - Levothyroxine - T4.
Hi,I was ok on that dose of 90 until I had an Iron infusion and it seemed it sent my t3 level high. My Iron has always been low but my Dr would,nt prescribe me iron tablets, until now when he suggested the infusion,.All I know is I have,nt felt well since, but having my blood taken I understand why with my t3 being high.I did feel over medicated, very shaky, could,nt sleep,Anxiety something I haven't had in a long time.I,ve drop a 1/4of a grain for now,I will see how it goes.Thank you for your reply,I appreciate it.
Well, yes, the iron infusion will have assisted in your ability to convert the T4 portion of the NDT into T3 so, yes, you probably do not need as much medication now.
It will be in your best interests to try and maintain this level of ferritin at around where it is now - as if starts dropping again your conversion of the T4 into T3 will begin to start dropping and you'll need to increase your NDT back up again.
No thyroid hormone works well if vitamins and minerals are not optimal and now you can see how true this can be :-
It's a balancing act and I know it's a bit like juggling and sometimes difficult keeping all the balls in the air.
