Access to a Child’s GP Online Record

Someone asked about this today. The information is very clear in this joint document from NHS England and the RCGP.

As always if you have difficulty print off the document and present it to the Practice Manager or GP.

I wanted to request access to my son (under 11 ys old). I wasn’t sure if I would need to provide his photo ID to request access like I did for myself. He doesn’t have one yet so I haven’t tried. Do you know if it is required to show his ID before requesting the proxy access for me to access his records?

I am not sure of the answer to this question. However from what I have read the parent makes the application on behalf of a person under 16 so I imagine your ID and the child’s birth certificate may be relevant. Do let us know.
