My last post on this subject described how the new GP contract had brought in new regulation giving patients access to their FULL Prospective online GP record from April 2020. This meant you could read all the text written by your HP in a consultation, all results etc going forward (provided your GP Practice did not use VISION software which does not have the functionality)
I am delighted to say there has been a further update on the 6 February. The new regulation states that GP WILL GIVE PATIENTS ACCESS TO THEIR FULL ONLINE GP RECORDS INCLUDING HISTORICAL RECORDS ON REQUEST. This information is in the Annexe and has not been advertised. Here is the link to the full document and a screen shot of that information. Please use this information to gain access to your full online record after 1 April 2020. This is a hugely significant step recognising that our access to our medical information is vital to self management.
NB. I am not sure of the relevance to Wales Scotland and NI which have different arrangements for record access
Good grief I have noticed the document has been removed from the server. I have noticed that other publications remove the Annexe. I will see if I can find another link. Apologies
Top tip! If you think you will need this information please print it off! These pieces of information are often removed from servers or republished without the Annexes. Proof is required if you challenge your GP Practice and the best way to keep this information is screen shots or print the Annexe.
I had saved it to my Dropbox and it disappeared as I think that may just store the link. I will try to download and save to my desktop. That may do it. I tend to use my iPhone all the time and depend on links which is no good. Lesson learnt.
I managed to get copies of family medical records but had asked about getting historical consultations etc on line. The PM told the receptionist thzt they had already spent some time photocpying (I suspect we are not the only ones?!) but she was not prepared to let me have the historical ones on ine because of amount of time spent on them already. As it is end of year I didnt argue but did say my own records had 20 years worth missing and would be sorting this out in NY. I have registered with Evergreen app but she didnt know if they used it with SystemOnLine. It says I need a linkeage and ID number but can also log in by clicking NHS logo. It doesnt work for me.
I will be sending another letter in NY. Havent looked at other records of family yet but Ive no doubt there will be lots missing there. I have noted that one Receptionist called me demanding when I had simply asked them to make sure the T4 and T3 had been done for the endo. I guess Im not popular then?!
I am sorry to hear this, it goes on and on with some Practices.
It sounds to me like they really don’t know what they are talking about or how things work. I will try to answer best I can
1. Evergreen Life is a cross platform App and works with all GP systems
2. The ID and Linkage key for the Practice works for all Apps and identifies the Practice. It should be issued to you on an official letter when you sign up for next level online records. I can’t find this info on my NHS App. It is however available on my Evergreen Life App. Do you have Patient Access or any other Apps at the moment?
3. Access to historical records online. Bit muddled here. Have you moved GP Practice and the historical online content before 2015 wasn’t transferred?? It is only on paper? Do you have the paper copy and they are refusing to scan it onto your current online record?
Or
Do they not understand that historical record is already there but invisible to you as they need to alter the Practice level settings on their system? Which involves two check boxes.
The receptionist or PM do not have the power to decide what you can see, it is now a legal requirement. If the historical stuff was never online I am unsure of their obligation to scan it in. We had a phenomenal battle over this and eventually key documents were scanned in but this was useless as they were not indexed just loads of attachments. Some GP practices do scan in old documents as routine. As usual this is a postcode lottery as all Gp Practices are private businesses and only work under contract to the NHS. If it’s not in the contract they have the choice to do what they please.
Let me know
whether the historical stuff is paper only.
If you have other apps which will reveal ID and linkage keys
The Evergreen Life team have a telephone helpline- they will help you getting their App set up- they talked my
Practice through it.
The NHS complaints team will pass any issues into their regional team and will sort out any inappropriate refusals to access. Email address on another post somewhere I don’t have it to hand
