Blood tests

Hi,

My Gp ordered blood tests, but the lab didn't test FT3 (typical)! My FT4 was just 15 (9-19 range) but 6 weeks ago it was 25 - that's quite a change! Should I be worried? I do feel awful with exhaustion. I'm going to do a FT3 test privately on Monday.

My serum folate was 8.6 (3.1-20.5) - is that ok? Or not? I do take a 200 iron tablet daily.

Red blood count was 3.9 (4.0-5.5) and Mean Corpus Haemo 32.4 (27-32)

Any advice appreciated!

Well, it looks like I was right in your last thread, you had a Hashi's 'hyper' swing. So, I don't think you should be unduly worried.

I would want my folate higher than that. But what was your B12? Are you taking any B supplements?

Folate and iron are two different things. Taking iron tablets won't raise your folate, you're confusing it with ferritin. :)

Yeah, you were right!

I’m about to start on a good b complex but wanted to wait until after my results.

B12 iron and D3 tested late last year and all in the optimal range.

Shall I just keep an eye on my thyroid levels since I’m clearly having a flare up?

No, it's over now, the levels have come down again. What was your TSH?

Thank you. My TSH is always about 0.1 ( I take liothyronine- not before the test though). My Endo said being below the range for tsh is fine if the other results are optimal. I don’t think my ft 4 has been this low in years though. Can’t wait to have a proper test on Monday

Thank you. I’ll never understand why on earth the nhs labs won’t just flipping we’ll test our ft3! It’s infuriating

If they don’t test it they won’t have to prescribe T3

I'm going to do a FT3 test privately on Monday.

Hopefully along with TSH and FT4. You shouldn't do FT3 on it's own, it should always be done from the same blood draw as the other two.

Don’t worry, it’s the Medichecks ft3/ft4 test
