Getting a thyroid test during lockdown

Hi all, this is my first post on this site so apologies for the basic question. Is it possible to get a thyroid test done during lockdown given that GPs aren't seeing anyone unless it's considered urgent. I wouldn't mind paying for a private test but wonder if these centres would be open to inspect the blood tests too. Any help would be appreciated!

I think it's going to depend on your individual surgery as to how cooperative they are about thyroid blood testing. Personally, I gave up trying to get tests done through GP ages ago as they only do the bare minimum TSH test anyway.

I think all the private testing companies are still operating pretty much as normal. I just this week did a finger-prick test through monitormyhealth.org.uk Posted it off on Monday morning and got my results late Wednesday.

I had bloods done at my GPs last week, no problem at all getting appts. Give your surgery a call, if they can't help then I would recommend Medichecks for finger prick tests.

Yes I'm having thyroid tests every 4 weeks at my GP surgery. I think it varies.

When you have had tests done post your results on here for someone to comment on them, I had a blood test done and the results came back as usual, a couple of days later. Rang and asked for a copy of the results and he said I am printing them of as I am speaking to you. Ring and check each doctors surgury works differently. Best of luck.

Ooftar.. I have Graves' disease

My lovely Doctor made a health plan with me , he said he doesn't know much about HYPERthyroidism but

allows me to have my bloods done ever 6 weeks .. or if I start to experience "symptoms "

So , I had my bloods done 5 days ago and they will post the results to me .

You could try to make a telephone appointment with your Doctor.. and when you speak to him .. ask then .

They are still operating their surgeries just not letting hoards of people over the doorstep .

My surgery last week had 2 chairs in waiting area .. about 20 feet apart .

Good luck ..

Luv Mx🌹

I had mine done Thursday, just awaiting results which I'm told won't take any longer than usual.
