This is my first post, in 2006 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. In 2008 I was treated with RAI, I have had yearly bloods taken which my doctor has said are normal. My latest test results are
TSH 2.5
T4 17.7
I have been getting joint pains and tiredness, would love to get some advice and information. Thank you

TSH of 2.5 is too high and means you are undermedicated. TSH of people on medication is usually comfortable just above or below 1.0. Scroll down to Guidelines and Treatment Options to read Dr. A. Toft's comments in Pulse Magazine thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...
If you want a copy of the article to show your GP email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk
Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
Thank you for your reply, I am not on any medication for my thyroid. Also I have not been diagnosed as being underactive, I keep being told I am within normal limits. Wish I did feel normal, I am putting weight on have pain and stiff joints just feel rubbish. Help !!!!!
Lindylou, take that article to your GP and request a trial of Levothyroxine. If he refuses ask to be referred to an endocrinologist. You are becoming hypothyroid and there's no point in waiting until you are overtly hypothyroid (TSH >10) before starting treatment as your thyroid is evidently failing after RAI.
