Just a quick one- my latest Vit D bloods showed at 75 having previously been at 15.
I had initial loading doses once per week for 7 weeks then used the BetterYou spray with K2 etc. However, I was only having one spray until recently which would only deliver 1000 units instead of 3 sprays at 3000 (which is what is recommended on the bottle)
I’ve upped to 3 sprays. Would this dose of 3000 per day be too much or is this ok based on current bloods at 75 (the upper limit was 200 on the range)
Want to keep on top of it but also don’t want to over do it.
Well, you could drop down to 2 sprays per day during the summer and test again in the Autumn to see what you need for winter. I don’t think you will go over the top with that amount but hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along to guide you soon
Thank you! I kind of thought I’d be ok but like with all vitamins- they’re not as innocuous as you think, are they? I realised this when I was underway with loading doses the unbelievable difference it made to my health and well being. Who knew?
Yeah 2 sprays, but I don’t think I have a deficiency. I got this wretched blood test ages back and can’t get a drop of blood out of my fingers with those spigots despite doing everything they recommend to get the blood pumping I meant to get a blood draw sorted then the CV19 kicked off so I’ve been totally scuppered. I’m hoping I might cut myself accidentally very early in the morning and can grab a phial but so far so bad 😂🤣😂
Imagine lying flat out, face down, on a plank about 15 or 18 inches off the ground, with your eyes just past the end of the plank.
Put the vial and stabber in a place you can reach below the plank. Let one hand hang right down. Blood will tend to flood in. Then stab it using the other hand - and pour into the vial.
OK - so you have not got a plank, it would be too uncomfortable, or whatever. What I am trying to do is paint a picture which you can try to adapt to your circumstances. Maybe you could have your arm hanging down the end of a sofa?
I’ve got lots of planks at my allotment 😂🤣😂 but there’s the hygiene issue we only have artesian pumps for water - nothing tapped. I suppose I could take some up there and claim I’m planting beans if anyone sees me! The bed might be a better idea...
I drank loads of water did some serious exercise - intervals and 7 flights of stairs, had a shower, pumped my hand and whatever else they recommended and the first two goes yielded absolutely nothing I was standing up tho, the plank was not in their instructions! The third one gave one measily little blob of blood that instantaneously clotted and refused to run into the phial it kind of crusted over at the top of it. I hit the exact finger hot spots they suggested too. Do you think your method is the answer, even given my paltry digital blood supply? I am amazed my fingers haven’t atrophied with such meagre rations! It’s worth a go, but not till next Tuesday cos of the bank hol.. in the meantime, .I shall try mentally rehearsing it with victory in mind, like athletes prior to a major event!
I usually don't have a problem but the last time I did my own, it did not flow as well as usual. I was sitting in a chair and managed to lean forward, dropping my hand (already stabbed) to the floor. It then flowed well.
Just look at your hand. Then lower it, maybe put your feet up on a footstool. You will see the veins become prominent on the back of your hand. That indicates plentiful blood and it will flow well - in my experience.
It sounds horrendous- I looked into the self bloods medichecks etc but there is no way I could do it. Far too squeamish. All that squeezing etc makes me feel faint thinking about it!
Boy did I do some stabbing and squeezing But it just clotted before actually flowing out of the stab hole. It was literally like getting blood out of a stone 😂🤣😂
I actually helped someone the other day to do this.
Lying comfortably on a bed, arm hanging down to the floor - I did the "stab". Blood poured out exactly as you'd wish. Filled the two vials that were needed but could have done many more, if needed!
And stopped when arm was raised. (Very important, that is!)
