Metavive NDT - what is the amount of T3 and T4?

Hi, the NDT that I am taking is the Metavive brand. I am taking 3 x 30mg capsules plus 1 x 15mg capsule. Does anyone know what the amount of T4 and T3 is in one 30mg and one 15mg capsule?

Thanks!

Hi

Metavive is completely different to ndt.

Ndt contains approx 9 mcg of t3 and 38 of t4.

Metavive is marketed as a glandular support and only the top endos know what the make up/ what it contains.

What I will say is it’s cheaper to buy the 60 mgs capsules than the 30 mgs so that will save you money.

As with any new meds it’s a good idea when adding / increasing/ monitoring to check temps with a basal thermometer.

You need to have 4 a day and aim for 36.50. Then you take an average and if any temps vary by more than 0.3 then your adrenals are not fully functioning.

If you mean how does it compare to ndt let me know and I’ll message you.

Thanks Howard39 for swift response. I had no idea it wasn't the same as NDT. Please would you let me know how it compares. Thanks again.

Do you mean an average temp over several days? I.e., for five mornings then divide by five?

Hi

If it is new to you do 8 readings or if you increase a dose do 8 for 4 days.

The rest of the time do 4 a day.

See drmyhill.co.uk and in the search engine on the top right hand corner of the home page type in orchestra. It’s a really good read on achieving good health.

HighlandMo is right really they aren’t allowed to state the exact breakdown. As a glandular it’s v similar to ndt. Just probably less additives. Some love it some people prefer ndt or our bodies get used to it,

All I can say is my specialist likes it.

Thank you Howard39, I typed in orchestra and got an awful middle of a page. Must’ve done something wrong

Hello, thanks for your reply. I think you are right about Metavive being practically the same. I phoned The Natural Choice this morning which is where I buy it. They were extremely guarded in their response to my questions and kept saying it was a glandular supplement from the glands of pigs and just contained what was in the pig's gland at that time. I increased my dose slowly. I don't know if it's enough or not because I still don't feel right. I have started noting down my basal temperature - last night it was 34.8 and this morning before getting up it was 35.4 but that was two hours after I took my Metavive so maybe that's why it went up. I just had blood test done on Tuesday after 2.5 years without one - have posted results in separate thread.

I have very similar experience with it- I find it to be potent and effective. yet literally everywhere on the internet is saying it is not NDT. I am recently made aware of 'Metavive Pro' and wonder if that is any different..

HighlandMo

Metavive l and ll are porcine.

Metavive lll and lV are bovine.

Hi Londinium

I use Adrenavive, haven't used Metavive as I take Levo plus T3.

It's still early days for the Adrenavive. I spent a long time lowering high in range cortisol - actually not retesting so I went on far too long and managed to get all my levels down to rock bottom. Now I have the task of raising my levels and it's taking a while. I'm due to retest in a few weeks' time after increasing dose, changed from Adrenavive ll to lll. I don't actually expect it to be a quick fix considering I took a cortisol lowering supplement for 2 years (brain went AWOL, didn't think to retest after I ditched my practioner!)

No, I self source.

How often do you think it’s best to test cortisol? Mine was over range at all four points of the day back in February - should I be retesting soon?

cazzaleo

It depends what you're doing about it. Are you taking any supplements to try and lower it?

I’m taking a bunch of supplements, some of which I’ve hoped might have an impact on the cortisol (as well as help generally/with other issues and symptoms) such as rhodiola and three tulsi.

cazzaleo

I don't know anything about three tulsi, but rhodiola is one of the adaptogenic herbs and it was in the supplement I took to lower my cortisol.

It's been about 6 months since your last test, so assuming you've been taking your supplements that long I'd retest now.

As this post is over two years old, you might do better writing a brand new post. Just luck I noticed it.

These are from pigs:

Metavive I Porcine Thyroid Complex

Metavive II Porcine Thyroid Complex

These are from cattle:

Metavive III Bovine Thyroid Complex

Metavive IV Bovine Thyroid Complex

(There might be other products with limited/controlled distribution. All will say either "porcine" or "bovine".)
