Hi, am with Graves disease since 8 months ago, currently on 5 mg carbimasol, prescribed on 18/02.

I feel this dosage is too low at moment as my hands started shacking again but do not have an access to my consultant or any testing services.

I ordered a testing kit from Thriva but still waiting for it , already 20 days. People say its the same with Medichecks.

I would appreciate any advise on increasing the dosage please

Hello Exonks

Welcome to the forum.

When you last saw the endocrinologist who prescribed the carbimazole were you given another follow up appointment so this dose could be adjusted ?

This would be the normal procedure, though appreciate we are not currently, in ' normal times '.

Is there a secretary to the endo whom you can leave a message with.

Can you doctor contact the hospital for you and undertake the relevant blood tests.

I presume you have been diagnosed with Graves Disease and have tested positive for the TSI/TRab antibodies.

This disease can be considered life threatening, so you are in need of a considered opinion, and personally think you should go back through the relevant medical channels rather than self test as if you do need an increase, you'll need a prescription to acquire the AT drugs.

Just for reference there is a Graves Disease Foundation website run by a lady who has Graves Disease. Elaine Moore is a medical researcher and her books and website offer everything Graves for all patients world wide. It is Stateside so some of the medical options may not be widely used in the UK but there are many sections about this poorly understood and badly treated autoimmune disease that tends to attack the thyroid causing a myriad of symptoms that sees you needing medical help.
