Hello everyone,

Anyone used yort testing for allergy testing. I believe the test is the Quantitative lgG ELISA food allergy test.

Any feedbackwould be appreciated.

Thank you

Yes I have.

I had severe constipation and my endo said it wasn't caused by my thyroid as my results were in the normal range so wouldn't increase my dose. I tried all sorts of things to resolve it, gluten free, FODMAP, probiotics, a private dietician etc. When it was too restrictive I struggled to stay on the diet for more than a month or so to rule out food groups so I thought I'd give it a go. I'd heard mixed things with some people saying the test wouldn't actually find an intolerance and antibody tests were worthless etc. But I figured the GPs coeliac test looks at antibodies and to be honest I was desperate.

I was expecting a long list of intolerances but it just came back with Turkey and Cows Milk.

I've cut them out and my constipation is actually resolved. I'd struggled with this constipation for over a year. So this was massive for me. I still find it a bit hard to believe but I'm convinced it's because I cut out the cows milk.

When I was reading up about the various tests available later I found another company which differentiates between the different milk proteins which York doesn't do so if that's important to you, you might want to look at them. I think the company is called Cambridge Nutrition.

But York were quick, helpful and never gave me the hard sell. I had a free nutritionalist appointment given to me too but haven't actually used it yet.

Thank you very much for your feedback, it really is greatly appreciated. I don't mind paying the money if it would help, I have been avoiding so many things and ended up going hungry so in fact I am makng my self worse. So I need to be clear about what I have to avoid and what is ok to eat.

After reading what you say I will give it a whirl

Thank you very much, so glad your feeling better, I used to have terrible constipation - doctor was giving me 60 laxatives sachets a month - so I know how horrible that is : <

There was something about allergy testing on Trust Me I'm A Doctor last week, but I don't remember the details.

I think they concluded that the York test would only show reaction to what you'd recent;y eaten and they didn't see any benefit in it. I think they concluded the only accurate tests are the one allergy doctors do direct onto the skin. Worth watching.
