Hi, I have done all the tests and it seems I need half a capsule of the desiccated thyroid morning and evening. How do I split a gelatine cap full and what's the best way take it please?

Has Nature Throid changed again?

It used to be a splittable pill.

When I tried ThyroGold, I emptied the capsules in to increasingly tiny piles & had to dip my finger in it. Messy & inacurate as well as ineffectual. It’s much nastier in taste & effect to sherbet, & I couldn’t tolerate even 1/20 capsule in one dip.

You could take it all in the morning to see if it helps sufficiently before attempting to split the dose.

Ha Ha, that's very helpful, exactly what I thought! What dose were your capsules? mine are 130mg, which I take to be 2 grains?? God this whole thyroid thing is so confusing :) And did you cut down your Levo at the same time or just take the DTH as an add on please?

NT was previously pills, hence querying if they’ve changed formula again? I haven’t ordered since the new formula last year or so but found it easy to quarter five grain tablets.

Yes to two grains being 130mcg.

I think ThyroGold capsules were 300mcg of pure itching burning pain powder. 👹

I’ve never taken T4. WP thyroid NDT first, the debacle with ThyroGold, WP then Nature Throid, T3 only in & off. I feel best on NDT/T3 combination, glandular/T3, recently just glandular. I’m getting better at cocktails, judging & jiggling types & dosage, or I was till yesterday. 🤗 I decided to self-isolate following yesterday’s intake & have spent 24 hours slightly hyper through inactivity. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I take more T3 in summer so gradually drop NDT dose as I increase T3 in spring, then reverse this in autumn. I assume it’s easier to adjust with T4 having a shorter life, & that it would be a slower process with T4 with that taking two weeks to convert. You may want to reduce your T4 a little so the T3 in your NDT doesn’t give you too much of a shock, though maybe you need it depending on how you feel, test results, temperature, activity levels, etc.

ps Are you sure they’re NT? Pic still looks like pills & I can’t find info about swapping to capsules.

thanks for the help - I'm usually pretty good at medical stuff (had to be) but finding this thyroid juggling really hard! I have got a NDT from New Zealand, it has good reviews, so hence the capsules. Not the usual brands.

Ah, it’s not Nature Throid NDT then! Silly me, I misread Nature Thyroid. 🤭 Many apologies as I probably confused you as well. I was beginning to worry you’d been sold something dodgy.

I have searched the site and can't seem to find what I am looking for. Trying to find out if you know of anyone who has taken a prescription thyroid with an over the counter such as thyro-gold. NP Thyroid 60 mg with Thyro-Gold 150 mg which equals 60 mg of NP. I can't get blood work done because of Cornavirus but symptoms scream for more thyroid for months. Since NP is prescription I wasn't sure about combining to raise the dose.
