Thyroid S how do you take yours?

According to STTM you can take NDT with food.

I try to leave 30 mins clear on the morning dose and I'm fine with no food around the afternoon dose.

Also do you break up? Take subliminally?

As I said before, that's STTM, this is the real world. If you take NDT with food, some of the hormone is going to bind with elements in the food, and you will not get the full dose.

One full hour is better before eating or drinking anything but water.

Taking it sublingually, is fraught with hazard. The molecules are to large to penetrate the skin. Which means that you just let it dissolve in your mouth and then swallow it. But, how much hormone are you actually swallowing, and how much hangs around in your mouth and binds with food. It's a very uncertain way of dosing because you don't know how much you are actually getting into your blood.

I don't know about breaking it up. It's not something I've ever tried. But, there are those - including the manufacturers - that say the pill is designed to be swallowed whole and dissolved by stomach acid.

I was so pleased when I learned you could take with food, I sleep really badly and every moment is precious, and I know if I am awoke to take a dose at 6am I'll not get back to sleep or have any further quality sleep - this is important to me, plus I like to eat as soon as I arise and not wait an hour I don't have the time when I have to leave the house for work. I can see I'm going to struggle.

Then why don't you take it two hours after breakfast, and an hour before lunch. There's no law that says you have to take it first thing in the morning.

I do understand how difficult it can be, but if you take it with food, you will not be absorbing the full dose, and you will not get a consistant, stable dose. Which will make your hypo harder to control. But it's up to you. We don't yet have the pill police!

No, I am not a fan of STTM. I cringe every time someone says 'but it says on STTM...'

Or, you could take it at night, 2 - 2 1/2 hours after eating.

I think they recommend am it being when your body would naturally release the hormones, but I suppose it's up to the individual, I think I will try mid morning then late afternoon for second dose as I am splitting it.

Thank you

I take mine on waking, a cup of herbal tea, shower, stupid rigmarole over skin, and an hour has gone in a flash.

I used to take mine with food, and when I switched to this system was able to reduce from 3.5 to 2 grains, AND I felt better. Believe me, it's worth the effort.

Looks like I am going to have to make an effort, even if it does mean waking, I can be up showered and out of the house in half an hour, got it down to a fine art with not sleeping well!
