My daughter is 8 months pregnant and she has been feeling extremely low in mood and picking up colds very easily and very depressed. She recently had her thyroid levels checked, could some help in deciphering these please. FT3 normal, TSH 1.25, FT4 7.7 these are what she wrote down from phone call to Doctors. Thank You

Could someone help me decipher my pregnat daughters thyroid test results please

As reference ranges vary from lab to lab, she needs to ask the receptionist at her surgery for the ranges that come with her results. What we can tell you is that her TSH is very normal at 1.25 (ranges are very similar for TSH at around 0.2-4.2-ish), FT4 is possibly low in range or below range and "FT3 normal" doesn't give us any clues at all.
Does she have a diagnosis of a thyroid condition and is she on thyroid meds?
Hi SeasideSusie no the thyroid issue is just being investigated, ive had it since birth, but all 3 children i had tested negative. I asked her to get a print out so we could see proper ranges.
Suggest you consider getting Full thyroid and vitamin testing...either now or 6 weeks after birth
Important to test thyroid antibodies and vitamin levels
For full Thyroid evaluation your daughter needs TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if she has autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
Ask GP to test vitamin levels and thyroid antibodies now?
You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )

Medichecks also do just vitamin testing if necessary
Thank you yes i will suggest having private test done, i have just had mine done by Medichecks after my doctor read my results wrong, i was very happy with the system and reply i managed to take report to doctor with information and now she will be able too read other people's results correctly. Plus doctor agreed i should have a higher dose of levothyroxine after tests.
